See AllIndiana Jones 5's Franchise-Low $383M Box Office Gets Candid Reflection From Director 1 Year Later: "How Would Anything Have Made The Audience Happy"
The movie was a bait and switch. They were looking to supplant Indy with a smug know it all with the personality of a sales rep looking to meet their quota by week's end. I tired of her quickly, she wasn't funny, her quips about as memorable as a YouTube ad. They tried too hard to make her the hero, Indy was very much a side character in his own movie. It should've been called Helena Shaw and the Dial of Destiny. I'm just glad it was a rumor that Indy was going to blink himself out of existence by his young self dying to save his old self. That would've been infinitely worse.
