Having seen the film, the more accurate statement would be “has lost his mind”. it is incomprehensible and actually seems to be the product of a delusional mind. The worst student filmmaker would do a better job. And people seem to forget that Coppola was not a writer of original works. He’s adapted famous and time-tested material. An original writer, he is not.

The film is an abomination, punishing to watch and can only be seen in small units, it is that incomprehensible. Coppola has never been a good writer. In fact he’s a terrible writer unless he’s adapting someone else’s work which means he’s not a writer but an adapter. Megalopolis reveals the folly of his self proclaimed genius as a writer. Even as a Director, in this film his choices border on the acts of someone suffering from early dementia.
