It's somewhat ironic that a fictional universe created by an atheist, one that depicts a utopian future in which all humans have renounced any faith in any God, would be populated by so many Godlike beings.

The twofold message about anything God-related seems to be (1) humanity's best hope of achieving Utopia is rejecting, as opposed to embracing, God and (2) if such a being or beings do exist, they're either uninterested in humanity or they see humans as playthings for their amusement.

It was actually CBS, where Supergirl was as out of place in that sea of police procedurals like NCIS as Leroy Jethro Gibbs would be on a superhero show flying around in tights.

When I saw the episode "A War For All Seasons", I immediately ed that Potter replaced Blake in 1952. But that episode started at the beginning of 1951, indicating that Potter was already the CO of the 4077 in 1950. That didn't leave a lot of time for Blake, Burns, Trapper, and Radar to have served at the 4077 and M*A*S*H wasn't the type of show to showcase time travel and alternate universes.

But I just shrugged it off, repeating to myself it's just a show, relaxed and watched it anyway.

NCIS didn't "neglect" or "overlook" having Mike Franks and Vera Strickland appear together. The original series killed off Franks (a mortal sin in the eyes of many, including me) two and a half years before they even thought of creating Vera.

It should be expected that Parker's leadership style would have more of an impact on Jessica than Gibbs' would. Of the current team, Jess has had the least experience working with Gibbs. When Jess ed the MCRT, she only worked one case with Gibbs before he retired and had almost zero personal interaction with him. Parker himself interacted more with Gibbs than Jess did. By contrast, Jess has worked with Parker for three years and counting. That's more time than Kate worked with Gibbs.

The scene in which Franks shows up at Gibbs' place in NCIS episode "The Spider and the Fly" does give wiggle room for NCIS: Origins.

Although Gibbs says "Dad, meet Mike Franks", neither Franks nor Jackson Gibbs give any indication whether or not they had met before.

Gibbs' "introduction" may have been sarcasm in response to his father asking Franks how the latter got the agents guarding Gibbs' house. Gibbs may have been, in effect, saying there's more to Franks than Jackson already knows.

"It was Barzini all along". Perhaps the drug deal, the attempted hit, and even the mob war that spun out of these events would make more sense if you that it was all orchestrated by Barzini with the ultimate aim of eliminating the Corleone family. The drug trade profits would have been icing on the cake. But for Barzini, supplanting the Corleone's as the most powerful of the five families, if not becoming boss of all bosses, was the actual cake.

In the earliest years of Vance's time as NCIS Director, he was married and raising two children.. You think he's about to retire because he and Lena want more out of their relationship?

Just because the lion of NCIS may have found a new lioness doesn't mean he's going to stop roaring and leave the jungle.

You wouldn't expect a happy Gibbs to start reminiscing and writing about his early NIS days. Why would Gibbs revisit the time in his life when his loss of Shannon and Kelly was freshest and the pain was still raw if he's now completely at peace?

The real question remains: If Gibbs was completely at peace when he retired 3 years ago, what happened to change that?

Well, so far, so good. I liked the moment when young Gibbs is about to go out on his first case and said "Where's my gear?" as opposed to the familiar commanding "Grab your gear!"

That was a "That's young Gibbs alright" moment for me.

I was under the impression that Gibbs ed NIS AFTER killing Pedro Hernandez. In the two part NCIS episode "Legend" (aka the NCIS:LA backdoor pilot) it was revealed that an agent named Lara Macy investigated the Hernandez shooting. Her prime suspect: Gunnery Sgt. (not NIS Agent) Leroy Jethro Gibbs, grieving widower and bereaved father.

NCIS isn't the first and won't be the last long running series to have inconsistencies/contradictions in its narrative, especially in the pilot in relation to the rest of the series. The longer a series lasts, the more hands involved in its making, the more contradictions creep in. We just have to repeat to ourselves "It's just a show. I should really just relax".

Speaking of canon-predetermined fates, if Sam Kirk's wife and sons are reintroduced in SNW, will the series address what became of the two sons who weren't present in "Operation: Annihilate"?

I used to think NCIS would probably end this way:

1. Vance becoming SecNav.

2. Gibbs retiring or sacrificing his life in the line of duty (hoping for the former, of course).

3. Tony becoming team leader.

4. McGee becoming NCIS Director.
