This was a wonderful article. Tolkien's LotR were some of the first novels I ever read, back in the early 80s, moving on to The Hobbit and other Tolkien works. (I imagine not nearly as many folks have read The Smith of Wootton Major as opposed to The Hobbit!) I've read Tolkien's biography and of course, caught the movie about Tolkien's life. But never had I heard the tidbit about a young Christopher correcting his father. Makes you feel like you're sitting right there watching a bedside scene!
