What is the most depressing movie ever made?

There are plenty of tragic films that pull at the heartstrings, but there are some that stand out for their dour storylines and heartbreaking stories. The horrors of the Holocaust are brought to vivid life in Schindler's List, while Requiem for a Dream is a harrowing exploration of the damage addiction can have. The Elephant Man is a dour portrait of a man born with a disability, while my money for the most depressing film ever is Grave of the Fireflies, an incredibly sad animated movie about two children trying to survive Japan in the waning days of World War II. What do you think is the most depressing movie of all time?

Could Rose & Jack have really both fit on the door in Titanic?

The ending of Titanic remains a hotly contested finale over twenty-five years later. The film concluded with Jack and Rose struggling to survive in the ice-cold ocean waters after the titular ship sank. While Rose was able to fit onto a floating door and survived, Jack remained in the water and ultimately died. Fans have debated for years whether or not Jack could have also fit on the door. Director James Cameron itted years later that Jack could have survived, but it would have required lots of variables to fall into place. Given the circumstances, it makes sense why Jack and Rose wouldn't have figured out how to ensure his survival, especially since they were already in the process of freezing. Do you think Jack could have survived the ending of Titanic?

Is Mad Max a hero or an anti-hero?

The Mad Max films largely focus on the titular Max, a wanderer in the post-apocalyptic Wastelands. The character is often defined by his grim outlook and harsh methods, which help keep him detached from the world around him. However, despite his dark outlook and lethal tactics, Max has proven to be a consistent hero in the series. I'd argue that almost every film focusing on him highlights his inherent heroism, with Max frequently risking his life to help others before moving on. Do you think Mad Max is a classic hero, or does his brutal methods make him an anti-hero?

What would the DC Universe look like if it built off Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy?

While Man of Steel set off the DCEU and introduced a new take on Batman in the sequel, it's worth considering how things might have played out differently if the Dark Knight trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan had been the canon beginning of the DCEU instead. With Bruce Wayne believed dead, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Robin Blake would have likely been Batman. The universe would have probably been far more grounded, building off the more realistic approach Nolan brought to the Caped Crusader. Even if Man of Steel had remained canon, this would have brought a more lived-in tone to the franchise. What do you think would have happened if the Dark Knight trilogy was part of the DCEU?

Do you agree that Bad Boys: Ride or Die deserves the best Rotten Tomatoes audience score of the franchise?

The Bad Boys franchise spans four films and multiple decades. Each movie follows the adventures of Will Smith's Mike and Martin Lawrence's Marcus, detectives with the Miami police department. The latest entry in the series, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, was well-received overall, earning a 64% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it didn't reach the critical heights of the previous film, Bad Boys For Life. While the new film is a lot of fun, I don't think it can quite match the surprising dramatic stakes of the prior Bad Boys movie. Do you think Bad Boys: Ride or Die deserves to be the most acclaimed entry in the series?

Would Thor's method for killing the Hulk from new Marvel Comics work in the MCU?

Avengers: Twilight is a grim series that explores a dark potential future for the Marvel Universe. Among the final survivors of the Marvel heroes is the Hulk, who has been turned into an unwilling monster by the Red Skull. To defeat him once and for all, Thor is forced to hold the Hulk underwater with Mjolnir on his chest. Unworthy to lift the hammer and resurface, Hulk eventually runs out of air and drowns. It's a brutal ending for the character, but one that might not work on the MCU Hulk. Films like The Avengers suggested the Hulk survived major blows to his brain before, and I just don't think the MCU Hulk could die from this sort of blow without recovering or adapting. Do you think the MCU Hulk could survive drowning?
