See AllI Was A Child Of The Star Wars Prequels, & Now I'm Watching History Repeat Itself
I grew up with the prequels, Still hate jar jar. Still rank empire and, a new hope above the prequels.
Revenge of the Sith, beats out, Return of the Jedi, though I like the finale of RotJ more just cause its satisfying.
I feel pretty objective about it all, I liked the sequel characters, they had good ideas and wasted them, Finn, Poe, Rey, Bb8, The random rose's sister actress, it was all going so well until it became a nostalgia fest and self referential tone breaking mess.
Literally every scene is trying so hard to evoke the feeling of the previous movies that it just felt empty.
im sure you're right that kids will like it, but I don't agree that It will be like the prequels, I like the prequels because they are different from the originals, while the og fans disliked it because it was different. The sequels are just the originals but with worse characterisation, fight scenes, dramatic tension, (The film never made you care about Han as a self contained movie, attachment is expected from watching the previous movies), and filled with moments for nostalgic pay offs that kids won't even understand like lukes lightsaber. (Presents annakins lightsaber as something special, but it just isn't, it's not "your fathers lightsaber" its... just a lightsaber, or as I've heard it called "The Youngling Killer 9000".
Anyway, Force Awakens is better than Clone Wars. Yet as a self contained trilogy, its garbage that requires watching 6 other movies to appreciate fully, which then makes it suck, more.
