Criticizing movies from the 80’s by today’s standards is really unfair. It’s just like criticizing TV shows from the past by today’s standards. This isn’t fair to shows like the Honeymooners, I Love Lucy, Sanford & Son, All In The Family, Married With Children, or Rosanne. All classics of their time. Not fair to judge these shows or any Movie from the 1980’s or earlier by standards that have changed. I’m sure you could critique Mark Twain, too…. But that wouldn’t be fair either.
