I'll it to only watching a few episodes from the first series of Ghosts US, and my main reason for not continuing was my view that characters were dumber down in some ways.

In this particular case,it's quite clear early on that Issac is a camp character, almost a caricature. In one of those early episodes he expresses his love of musicals! The Captain's sexuality is dealt with far more subtly, his main trope is his military obsession!

My main issue with the Captain is that he would have actually had his own set of medals at the wars end, even if he had never served overseas or seen combat. At least 3 of them I believe.
