See AllDisney's Snow White Gets IMDb Disclaimer After A Wave Of 1-Star Reviews Makes Overall Rating Plummet
Ignore the ignoramusi replying to you, youre completely right. For Mike, the only simps here are those simping Zegler, please just dont use the word if you dont even know what it means lmfao. Nothing close minded about being historically accurate and wanting real people cast as dwarves also.
As for Matthew, the era of no blacks was before these different colors mixed. (where snow white happens) didn't have mixed races until a couple hundred years ago, and the movie story takes place far before those races came here. As such, the movie makes more sense with less people of color. I dont personally mind much if extras are mixed races, but the plain majority of medieval extras should obviously be white.

Also while I kinda doubt the 1.5 is review bombed (like maybe, but its not that far below the 4.0 given by critics, the 7.3 on rotten tomatoes by audience is further from that), rather the 73% on RT is likely review bombed by people mentally challenged enough to and like Zegler. They saw IMDB accurately rate the movie, and decided to review bomb positive ratings on rotten tomato
"Not Everyone Needs To Be White": How To Train Your Dragon’s Live-Action Casting & Lore Change Unpacked By Director After Astrid Backlash
"Not everyone needs to be white"
Okay but Astrid is. The character isnt original or new, its literally the character from the animation but in live action. Astrid is white, thus live action astrid should be white. Imagine making a princess and the frog live action with jennifer lawrence as the princess, its exactly the same as whats happening here.
The character is: a skandinavian medieval teen girl who shows immense confidence and can probably beat most of the adults in a fight, which she shows by having spiked clothing to make her feel dangerous, showing skin to show how she keeps herself in clothes easy to move in and shows that she isnt worried about what others might see since if anyone's a creep she can beat them up, and most notably, shes an icon of skandinavian beauty.
So why should live action astrid remove literally each core part of her appearance? The clothing is neither dangerous looking nor easy to move in, and the actress barely even looks european for medieval times, let alone being someone who could represent iconic skandinavian beauty.
Each and every part of Astrid her visuals was changed, meaning its simply not astrid. Its some other character that they added to replace astrid, and they named astrid in hoped we wouldnt notice them removing the character we grew to love. Its an astrid imposter.
Its not about being black or white or even damn blue for all I care. Its about representing the character and what it stands for. Every part of Astrids design in the animation was done with good reason as it by far best represents her. Thats why Hiccup looks exactly like Hiccup between both movies. His design is perfect and shows his character. Even without seeing the movie you can get a good idea of how he acts and thinks. Animation astrid was the same way, so changing everything about her looks just creates a different character. That doesnt have to be bad, but removing one of the best characters just makes no sense
One Cut Lord Of The Rings Scene Would Have Hit So Much Harder After The Rings Of Power
Its important to that RoP isnt canon whatsoever. It doesnt only not follow the same canon as the movies, it even directly contradicts many of the things that make sense in middle earth or things decided by Tolkien.
RoP is more like a fanfic than a canonical work based on Tolkien, however, since so much of the cast and crew has itting disappointment with the movies or books due to various things, mostly the fact most of his medieval european world was white because theyre too dumb to understand why thats only obvious and correct, this cant even be called fanfic.
RoP is hatefic.
It aims to overwrite things Tolkien wrote and things the movies showed. Cast and crew have openly itted their goal is to make it so when the next generation thinks middle earth, they wont see the logical world that Tolkien wrote or the logical world the movies showed, but instead they see RoP, the world where dwarves can be black. For anyonr without a basic understanding of skincolor origins, black skincolor comes from generations of exposure to sunlight and it serves as a way to protect against this sunlight in large amounts. For anyone with a lack of sense Ill explain; dwarves dont live in places with a lot of sun so a fullblood dwarf being black is preposterous. Diversity is cool and all, but the movies made sense. Sense and logic is infinitely more important than throwing in random black characters that dont fit just so you can proudly proclaim youre progressive.
On a more directly contradicted situation, RoP plays before the third age, which meand Gandalf wasnt in middle earth at all. All 5 wizards of middle earth were still chilling at home with the Valar until sometime in the third age, a few hundred years before the hobbit, 5 of them were chosen to go to middle earth and deal with the lingering power of Sauron. Gandalf, or as he is really called, Ororin, cant be in RoP if the work is canonical.
