OMG, Hugh Jackman was not as short as Wolverine in the comics. Was that what prevented you from enjoying the movies? Another example of fans being obsessed with minutiae. Sheesh!

You must be kidding me! "Friendly Neighborhood" whatever goes back to advertising from the 50s and 60s, when ads referred to "Your friendly neighborhood grocery store" or "Your friendly neighborhood drug store," etc. Stan Lee, a member of that era, started using it in a joking way to describe Spider-Man, like calling Batman "The Caped Crusader" or Superman "The Man of Steel." It's called an "epithet." It has NOTHING to do with Spidey being stuck in an NYC neighberhood as opposed to the rest of the world or outer space. I've written before about modern comics fans taking what happens in comics literally, leading to absurd rants like the one above.
