Brolin is too old for a Hal Jordan who has yet to have any on screen highs and who has the richest backgrounds of all the lanterns. If you see John as Riggs you clearly have no clue about the characters. Now Hal as a slightly more experienced Riggs partnered with a little younger Murtagh has potential.
