Could it be at all possible that SkyNet simply upgraded the Time Displacement Equipment between the events of T1 and T2? I mean a bit over a decade had ed since the events of T1, so an upgraded version of the TDE seems to be the most feasible explanation.

I say let it rest and go with a new story line altogether. Do something along the lines of Mass Effect Andromeda, but with a less buggy launch. , Andromeda was still tied into ME 1, 2, & 3 but mentioned Shepherd a couple of times in ing. They could do that with RDR3 and still have it loosely tied to the other the other RDR games, but with a totally new storyline.
