See AllEvery Star Wars Backlash I've Ever Seen Has Really Been About The Same Thing
I've read well over 200 Star Wars books. A few were bad, but most were good. I still can't understand why Disney thought it was a good idea to retcon all the books and comics. They could have made dozens of movies based off the books. As you said, Anakin Solo's death, Jacens capture, Janas stories with Rogue Squadron... Hell they could have done the entire Yuuzhan Vong war. Or what about Boba Fett? His arc with him taking over the Bounty Hunters guild could have been good. Or how about when he becomes the leader of Mandalore? It certainly would have been better than "Bacta Tank Boba and the Sand People".

This is why Hollywood hasn't had an original idea since the 90s. Everything is a reboot or an unwanted sequel.
The 80s had great movies. Sure, some were cheesy and some were over the top action movies. But they were entertaining. You had movies.like Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, ET, Die Hard, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Top Gun, Red Dawn, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, Goonies, etc. And the 90s had a ton of great movies too.
I agree with you completely. I don't want to spend my hard earned money so some Hollywood millionaire can preach to me. I watch movies to escape my reality, not to be lectures about it.

The number one problem was that they made "The Force Awakens" before they even had a script for "The Last Jedi". So when Ruin Johnson got his hands on it, he just wrecked plot points created by Abrams. Snoke was built up as a new Palpatine, and so Johnson unceremoniously kills him off. He then decided to destroy Luke Skywalker. Can't have a straight white male be a hero. He wasted Luke, relegated Finn to a pointless side quest character, cartoonishly made Captain Phasma just another pointless character, etc. What's the deal with the force sensitive kid with the broom? Ah don't worry about it because it's completely ignored in "The Rise of Palpatine".
And to be honest, I think they sidelined Finn because of China. It's ok tho because Kathleen Kennedy got to destroy George Lucas's creation. Who cares how many billions of dollars the movies and shows lost? She sure showed George she's not just a gopher for coffee anymore.
Why Anakin's Lightsaber Didn't Turn From Blue To Red When He Became A Sith
Technically any gem would work. "Kaiburr" crystals was first mentioned in the 1996 novel "Lightsabers" by Rebecca Moesta and Kevin J Anderson. "Kyber" was first used in 2012 in The Clone Wars. Prior to that, the most common gem used was Adegan. In fact, Luke created his light saber gem in Ben Kenobi's hut on Tatooine. It's shown in a scene that was cut from the beginning of Return of the Jedi.
