Ummm.... It's a "movie". His facial hair, whether historically accurate or not; does not take away from the fact that this is all make believe. Vampires and Nosferatu himself are not real (in the historical sense). I will say that I felt like this version of Nosferatu (character and makeup) was in my opinion the worst of the three movies (original Nosferatu, Shadow of the Vampire (with Willem Dafoe as Nosferatu)). The ending of this movie was very anticlimactic as well for all the suspense and drama that was leading up to the death scene. Overall I felt the movie was slow but able to hold attention at times, but the ending needs to be more than just a second thought!
