See AllYou Might Have Missed It, But The Wheel Of Time Has Finally Introduced Mat's Most Iconic Weapon
Robert Jordan and GRRM write in extremely different ways. GRRM was very focused on intrigue and action, so it worked very well for adaptation. RJ meanders through his world drinking in his unique setting. Sometimes not a whole lot happens but it immerses you in that world even so. This isn't great for a streaming series trying to capture attention spans and ratings. It also took 77 hour long episodes to adapt the 1.84 words of GRRMs series. Wheel of time is 4.4 million words long, more than twice the length. While I would have loved a purely faithful adaptation, I have no illusions it would ever have finished. I would rather see an abridged adaptation that might actually get to it's conclusion, and even has twists and turns I didn't see coming. You haven't read the books so I invite you to do so once it's finished. Then you will not only get to watch some great TV, but you will then have the talents of these great actors narrating the books for you in your head and get to experience the 'unchanged' story.
The Wheel Of Time Finally Reveals Moiraine's Fate: How It Changes Her Book Story
I loved the books and love this show too. Both versions of the story can exist just fine. If you don't want to watch, that is fine. But maybe put less bitterness out into the world. RJ's epic was super bloated. It worked as a book series (though in my opinion could have still used some streamlining). It never was going to work as a TV series or movie though. Too much meandering without much going on, and that gets you canceled before you get anywhere. This version of the story at least has a chance to finish.
The Wheel Of Time Finally Reveals Moiraine's Fate: How It Changes Her Book Story
I'm enjoying it a lot as an avid reader of the books. I actually love that they went another way, maybe it's one more turn of the wheel. The books were great and that story still exists any time I want to read it. Now I get to see the characters brought to life AND I get to be surprised now and then when something happens that I didn't expect. But seriously, they had to at least condense it or they never would have gotten out of book 1 before they got canceled, and it's hard to condense a story without making some pretty major changes.

Min saw Matt 'die' too. Moraine could very well have seen Lanfear stab her in the fight and thought 'this is another where I die.'
One of Shonen Jump's Most Promising New Series Seems to Be Facing Cancellation
I don't appreciate intentional misinformation, like using a picture from spyxfamily to click bait an article that has nothing to do with that show. Do better! Very close to blocking content from screenrant.
Wheel Of Time Season 3's Rhuidean Episode Confirms A Massive Change To Mat's Story
There is no way to put a huge series like this out unchanged. The show would be still in the middle of book 1 if they tried to cram everything in, and it would be canceled before it got anywhere. I've already read the books, multiple times. I know that story, I'm happy to watch a little bit different one. The scenes they have included have been spectacular.
