Clone Wars canonized Darth Bane when Yoda went to his tomb on Korriban and confirmed him as the Sith who established the Rule of Two. Keep in mind that anything Lucas-created such as that is always regarded as canon by Disney.

The fact that Yoda knew who Bane was and what he did indicates that the Jedi always had a role in his downfall.
