Online groups about Project Runway have been abuzz with fans asking if the show will be returning for a new season. The speculation did leave some viewers wondering if the show was canceled after season 21. However, they were just rumors. The finale of season 20 did seem like a sendoff, with 14 returning contestants competing for the grand prize of $250,000. That didn’t mean the last season was the last. Rotten Tomatoes recently shared a list of “renewed and canceled TV shows 2024,” where it states that Project Runway has, in fact, been “renewed.”

Project Runway Season 21 Potential Release Window

The long-awaited Project Runway season 20 returned to Bravo on June 15, 2023. It was a special “All Stars” season and the very first to air on Bravo after seven seasons of Project Runway All-Stars aired on Lifetime until the show moved to its new home in 2019. Interestingly, Project Runway season 19 premiered on October 14, 2021. There was no new season in 2022. The huge gap between seasons 19 and 20 could mean that while season 21 does take place in 2024, it could be much later in the year, so it could extend into 2025.

It could make a comeback this year with a glittering lineup of new contestants, a $250,000 prize, and a Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) mentorship.
