Screen Gems debuts the first trailer for action thriller Atomic Blonde - all of which have inspired strong reactions among moviegoers.

Proud Mary seems to be in a similar vein, in that it has an exceptionally distinct tone, a strong action lead with Henson, and a fresh take on the assassin-focused action subgenre. Now, after recently debuting the first poster for Proud Mary - which references the key art of 1970s Blaxploitation movies - Screen Gems has unveiled the first trailer for Henson's action thriller.

Buzzfeed revealed the Proud Mary trailer on Facebook, which you can watch above. The trailer includes shots of Henson's titular character getting suited up for a job, including a moment when she chooses her weapons of choice from a secret armory in her closet, before jumping into an action-heavy sequence to get viewers excited for the film. As viewers may expect based on the movie's title, the trailer features scenes from the film spliced together to the soundtrack of "Proud Mary" by Tina Turner. Plus, take a look at the poster for Proud Mary:

Proud Mary was directed by Babak Najafi (The Walking Dead).

While Proud Mary seems to be yet another take on the action subgenre focusing on assassins, this trailer helps the film stand apart with its exciting use of Tina Tuner's "Proud Mary." In fact, the music timed to the action of the trailer is reminiscent of Edgar Wright's recent hit strong trailers of Atomic Blonde. So, the Proud Mary trailer will no doubt get fans excited for an action thriller starring Henson - who has only risen in the ranks of Hollywood stars in recent years thanks to her roles in Empire and Hidden Figures. Hopefully, Proud Mary will deliver an action flick that's as visually exciting and compelling as this trailer when it hits theaters next year.
