A everything the new controller could potentially do.
Unfortunately, not everything is currently going smoothly with the new DualSense controller as s started reporting problems with it as far back as December of last year. s first started encountering file a class-action complaint against Sony.
In spite of the issues some s are encountering with the new DualSense controller, it hasn’t stopped many others from having fun with it. LazaModz shared its latest PS1-themed custom PS5 controller on its YouTube channel recently. The controller’s outer s and touchpad have all been painted grey similar to the original PS1 gamepad while the d-pad and face buttons have been painted black, with the latter also featuring the multi-colored legends. Even the PlayStation logo in the middle of the controller has been painted to match its color scheme first featured on the PS1.
Its PS1-themed DualSense isn’t the first custom controller LazaModz has come out with. The group behind the channel has made custom controllers as far back as the days of the Xbox 360 and PS3. Before this latest PS1-inspired design, the channel released both a Spider-Man: Miles Morales and a Spider-Man: Peter Parker PS5 controller as well as Fortnite and Dragon Ball Z-themed ones. It has even answered the cry of many PlayStation fans who weren’t too happy with the PS5 and DualSense’s white color scheme by creating a black version of the controller.
With how easy it is to take apart the new DualSense controller, it isn’t surprising that many modders like LazaMods would begin creating custom versions of the new peripheral. The PS1-themed one is particularly nostalgic and is reminiscent of the 20th Anniversary Edition of the PS4, which also featured a PS1-inspired design. While Sony has yet to release alternate color options for its new console and controllers, fans like LazaModz will have to customize them themselves.
