There is still a lot of information to be revealed about the PS5, and Sony has said they will hold several more PlayStation 5-focused events in the coming months. PS5 Games That Will Be Cross-Generational
Ubisoft’s Call of Duty's next Black Ops title will get a Fall 2020 cross-generational release. The developers want to make the game available for players on both generations of consoles in order to maximize potential holiday sale revenue. Gamers can also expect Lord of the Rings: Gollum to be cross-gen when it releases in 2021, as the developer previously confirmed it will be accessible on "all relevant console platforms at that time," Tech Radar reports. Other games, such as Quantum Error, Dustborn, Planet Coaster: Console Edition, Destiny 2, GTA 5, and Fortnite will all also be available on both consoles.
“Whether it’s backward compatibility or the possibility of cross-generational play, we’ll be able to transition that community to next-gen,” PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan told CNET. “It won’t be a binary choice about whether you have to be either on PlayStation 4 or next-gen to continue your friendship.” Gamers can expect further details to be provided at Sony’s various PS5 reveal events happening throughout the summer. Even though not many PlayStation 5 games may be confirmed to be cross-gen yet, this will likely change as new information is released.
