Sony recently revealed its launch of the PS5, that doesn’t seem to be high on Sony’s list of priorities. However, the new PlayStation Plus Collection improves upon PlayStation Now in many important ways that are sure to satisfy gamers.

The PlayStation Plus Collection is a new service being offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers. There’s no additional cost aside from the standard Plus hip, which already gives gamers access to free monthly games as well as online multiplayer. But with the new Plus Collection feature, players can access a variety of first and third-party titles for free. As of now, 18 titles have been confirmed for the Plus Collection and will be available at the PS5's launch, including God of War, Fallout 4, and Final Fantasy 15. Granted, the game selection will vary by country, and it’s been confirmed the service will not be available in China. The Plus Collection will debut alongside the next-gen PlayStation 5 consoles on November 12th.

PlayStation Now, on the other hand, is a completely different service that requires a separate subscription fee. The cloud gaming service allows gamers to stream a variety of PS2, PS3, and PS4 games on PlayStation 4 and PC. It’s been confirmed that PlayStation Now will also be available on the next-gen PS5 consoles when they launch, but given how the Plus Collection avoids some of PlayStation Now’s serious flaws, the newer service may sur it in popularity.

The Differences Between PS Plus Collection & PS Now

There are two main ways in which the PlayStation Plus Collection is a huge improvement. For one, PlayStation Now has been criticized for its selection of games. While it may boast over a hundred titles, many of them are older and less commercially successful. It has also rarely featured new releases, and when it has, they’ve often been timed exclusives. Though PlayStation Now is supposed to rival Sony’s answer to Xbox’s Ultimate Game .

Moreover, the PS Plus Collection offers a more reliable way to play games. The service will allow players to directly and play titles. PlayStation Now, on the other hand, only allows players to stream games, thereby making it reliant on the quality of the Internet connection. While this may free up hardware space, it tends to cause major problems in of lagging. Sony has recommended players use an ethernet cable to make the connection more secure, but it can’t be denied that PS Plus Collection offers a more convenient solution by allowing players to games directly onto their console.

It remains to be seen how PS Plus Collection will fare when it’s released alongside the next-gen PlayStation 5, but given the ways it improves upon the faults of PlayStation Now, its future is looking bright.
