it's owned by Sony. Rumors continue to run rampant, with fans dying for another Spider-Man game.

The end of Spider-Man gives some hints as to where the story might go next, but the next game would seriously benefit from putting Miles Morales front and center. Miles has become increasingly popular over the last couple of years as more fans are introduced to him through things like Into the Spider-Verse and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.

Putting Miles front and center would create a ton of opportunities for Spider-Man 2, and allow Insomniac to flex their creative muscles.

One of the most widely-acclaimed superhero stories of recent years is Into the Spider-Verse, and for good reason. It put an interesting twist on Spider-Man and managed to develop Peter Parker's character in ways that hadn't been seen before, at least outside of the comics. Miles is a perfect character as he presents a chance to tell an interesting origin story, but one, unlike previous Spider-Man stories.

The end of the first game already showed Miles training with Peter to harness his Spider powers. He has an established stake in Insomniac's universe and putting him front and center would be an interesting subversion of expectations. Insomniac's Spidey is a hero in his prime, already established within the world. Seeing another character worked into that vision would be an interesting way to explore the world of Spider-Man PS4, and could add more complexity to Peter's character. This isn't to say that Peter wouldn't still be a major character, as well as a playable one, but casting Miles as the main protagonist would be a great way to inject variety into the sequel.

Miles Would Be a Great Way to Add Variety to Spider-Man 2

One of the big questions with Spider-Man 2 is how Insomniac can improve upon the game's combat. Considering Spider-Man was heavily inspired by the Arkham games, there doesn't seem to be a lot to change about the core brawling. However, Miles Morales could help bring an interesting wrinkle to the sequel's gameplay. Miles could be a drastically different character from Peter because of his unique powers. His ability to turn invisible could double-down on the stealth elements from the first game, and his Venom Strike would give him unique electrical powers. Having both Miles and Peter playable would create a unique juxtaposition, and add some great variety into the gameplay. Miles will likely be playable in Spider-Man 2 no matter what, but putting him as the protagonist would be a much more interesting move.
