Many different conflicting s have been posted across the internet over the past two days, but thankfully the game’s publisher has finally stepped forward with a definitive answer to end the short-lived but much-publicized confusion.
Developer Insomniac Games has now confirmed that Spider-Man: Miles Morales will in fact be a separate, standalone sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man in a Twitter post made earlier today. The developer also hinted at more developments to come at a later date.
So far, very little is known about the plot of this new Spider-Man adventure, except for the fact that it will showcase record-breaking sales figures since its release back in 2018, thanks to its updated take on Spidey’s mythos and fluid web-swinging gameplay that many players felt truly captured the thrill of gliding through the skies above New York City on a thin strand of spider silk. If the trailer shown at yesterday’s PS5 showcase is any indication, Spider-Man: Miles Morales looks to continue those aspects - even as it introduces Miles’s unique camouflage and Venom Blast abilities.
Fans have been waiting to see Insomniac’s take on Miles Morales’s journey as the newest Spider-Man since the previous Spider-Man game’s post-credit reveal of his developing powers, so Spider-Man: Miles Morales will no doubt be one of the PS5’s highest anticipated launch titles. Like Insomniac stated in its post, future developments regarding the new standalone follow-up to the brilliant 2018 Spider-Man title will certainly be forthcoming ahead of Spider-Man: Miles Morales’s planned holiday season release, so fans should stay tuned for more info.
