Apparently, the most recent firmware update for Sony's rollout of Firmware Update 2.0, more specifically known as 21.02-04.

The 2.0 patch went live on Wednesday, September 15, ushering in a whole host of changes. PS5 SSD storage expansion counted among the most significant of the update's additions. To the delight of many a Trophy Hunter, Sony also altered the layout of the Trophy menu, ridding the OS of its previous horizontal display. Several other UX enhancements launched alongside the latest firmware update. And 3D audio for TV speakers represented another noteworthy improvement. Interestingly, it now appears there were a few boosts that Sony neglected to mention when running down everything that 21.02-04 brought to the table.

DF Direct Weekly #29 (via Devil May Cry 5 now run approximately two to three percent faster with the new update. Such a change roughly translates to both fast-paced action titles receiving an increase of one to two frames per second.

How many other titles received similar FPS enhancements following PS5's latest system software update remains a mystery as of writing. The actual changes will hardly be noticeable during gameplay, but it's interesting that improvements of this nature, no matter how small, are taking place in the backend.

A fair few updates have gone live for PS5 in the months following its late 2020 release. Sony deployed the first major firmware, Version 21.01-03.00.00, in mid-April, notably adding the ability to move PS5 games from console storage to USB extended storage. This particular set of changes further introduced a number of quality of life improvements. Since Sony just enabled M.2 SSD , there's no telling when another system software update of note will arrive.
