PSN has potentially leaked a new with the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, many would still argue that the company continues to mishandle the franchise.
EA began to lose Star Wars fans after being accused of straight-up greed by littering its Star Wars Battlefront titles with microtransactions. The company also lost the faith of fans by a job listing for Respawn Entertainment, the development studio behind Jedi: Fallen Order, suggested the company was looking for new people for games, presumably for a sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order.
There seems to be another Star Wars game in development according to a new PSN leak. Previous reports have suggested that EA has another Star Wars project in the works, developed by EA Motive in Montreal, Canada. Those reports refer to a title that is "smaller, more unusual" than Jedi: Fallen Order. A Twitter data mining , PSN releases, recently uncovered a PlayStation Store listing for a new Star Wars game, titled Project Maverick.
A Polygon report detailing what's been seen so far notes the artwork features X-wing starfighters, along with an Imperial Star Destroyer, suggesting that Project Maverick takes place around the timeline of the original Star Wars trilogy films. The art also suggests a setting featuring Mustafar, a volcanic planet seen and mentioned throughout the Star Wars franchise, most notably in Revenge of the Sith. Although EA has not officially confirmed this new game, its appearance on the PlayStation backend is potentially proof of its existence, so an announcement from the company could happen soon.
Fans are still skeptical about EA's commitment to the Star Wars franchise, though, so most will probably take this listing with a grain of salt. Until the title is officially confirmed and fans learn what kind of game it is, they will not hold their breath, especially as there is still a lot of distrust of the company from Star Wars fans. However, many will agree that any new Star Wars game is a good thing, and as long as fans continue to show interest in Star Wars titles, perhaps EA will continue to create them, including the kinds of games fans want and crave.
