Their distinct personalities and developed backstories allow fans to understand their driving motivations. With such clear understanding of their determining traits, one can easily ascertain which Hogwarts house they would be placed into. Here are 10 characters from Psych sorted into their Hogwarts house!

Pierre Despereaux - Ravenclaw

This criminal is elegant and sophisticated. He is an intellectual and a creative who appreciates fine art. His ability to craft elaborate plans to pull off heists impress many, including Shawn. It is clear that this criminal possesses all of the typical traits of a Ravenclaw as intelligence, wit, and creativity are essential to all of his plans.

Marlowe - Slytherin

Marlowe is an extremely cunning individual. When Marlowe is first introduced, she is part of a criminal duo with her brother. Together, the two have been targeting individuals with O-Negative blood as her brother has a rare disease requiring regular blood transfusions. Unlike many other criminals on the show, Marlowe's story does not end when she is arrested as Lassiter has fallen in love with her.

Marlowe later helps Lassie by getting close to another prisoner, going so far as to punch him in the face to gain credibility. After her release, her parole officer, who happens to be a scorned ex-lover of Lassie, tries the keep the two from living together by setting strict rules about where she can live but Marlowe devises a plan to avoid being separated. Marlowe's ambition, cunning plans, and willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve her goals make her a true Slytherin!

Woody - Ravenclaw

Woody the coroner is one of the most eccentric characters in a Psych, a show filled with eccentric characters. He loves his job and cheerfully examines dead bodies. A true expert, Woody knows everything there is to know about his field of study. He often enjoys sharing his knowledge with his peers in the form of "fun facts" which isn't always appreciated.

His depth of knowledge on the topics which interest him makes it hard for him to connect with others as he uses far beyond their understanding. He also takes things quite literally, causing many hilariously uncomfortable situations, such as when he met up with the group in his swimsuit instead of an evening suit. His wit, creativity, and individuality would land this friendly coroner in Ravenclaw house!

Buzz McNab - Hufflepuff

Buzz is a dedicated and hardworking cop. He plays by the rules and values his connection with those around him. He enjoys routine and works best when part of a team. While Buzz is never at the forefront of the action, his hard work often leads to valuable clues which assist in solving difficult cases. He and Shawn immediately become friends in the pilot. Their friendship never waivers due to Buzz's trusting nature and loyalty. It is clear that Buzz possesses all of the major traits of a Hufflepuff.

Karen Vick - Gryffindor

Karen is the police chief at the station for a majority of the series. She makes quick, rash judgments based on her original instincts. When she first meets Shawn, she is extremely suspicious of him and does not trust him. However, once she sees him in action she makes the bold decision to offer him a trial. A seeker of justice, she is willing to take some risks in her pursuit of justice.

Vick isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in and even gets suspended at one point because her team wasn't following the directions of her boss. Vick can also be extremely explosive, a common trait for Gryffindors. While it might seem like Karen is off on the side away from the action, under further examination one can see she is a bold, brave, and determined Gryffindor.

Henry Spencer - Slytherin

Henry is Shawn's father and a retired police officer. He was extremely successful during his career and Shawn regularly goes to him for help with cases. Henry does not let Shawn have anything for free and always makes him work for information. He is hesitant to help his son as he doesn't want to risk his own reputation by getting involved with Shawn's antics.

Wanting his son to be as successful and driven as him, Henry trained Shawn to think like a detective from an early age. Henry's constant need for control and recognition are huge driving factors for his character as well as reasons for the tension in their relationship. His drive, ambition, resourcefulness, need for control, leadership ability, and self-preservation check all of the Slytherin house traits.

Carlton Lassiter - Gryffindor

Carlton is an act-first-think-later type of guy. This impulsive nerve in and of itself is enough to prove Lassie is a Gryffindor, but there is more for this claim. Carlton is obsessed with this idea of right and wrong. He is one of the last to accept Shawn because Shawn's morals don't line up with his.

Lassie often comes off as self-righteous and arrogant and has an especially hard time recognizing the value of others if they don't do things in the way that he would. His bravery, arrogance, strict moral code, and impulsive actions prove that the Sorting Hat would put him in Gryffindor.

Burton Guster - Ravenclaw

This is probably the most obvious placement out of all of these characters. Gus, Shawn's best friend, is extremely intelligent. His knowledge is often crucial to the business' success. Gus has a host of intellectual interests which differ from the norm, such as the National Spelling Bee and tap dancing. He is apologetically himself and defends these interests with factual information about the impact and significance of these interests.

While he is hesitant to go along with some of Shawn's crazy plans, he does accept and appreciate Shawn for his individuality and eccentrics. His sharpness and individuality make it clear that Gus is a Ravenclaw.

Juliet O'Hara - Hufflepuff

Juliet is a police office and love interest of Shawn. She is extremely hard-working but is not always acknowledged for her contributions. Instead of lashing out, this drives Juliet to work harder. Juliet is extremely dedicated and loyal, both to her job and her peers. She is patient, kind, and tolerant and is one of the first to accept and assist Shawn. Her loyalty to both her career and peers and her diligence when solving a difficult case make Juliet a Hufflepuff.

Shawn Spencer - Slytherin

While Shawn appears lazy at first, which would seemingly go against this placement, it is important to that the Sorting Hat sees potential, not your active traits during sorting.  Shawn has no interest in participating in activities that he doesn't feel benefit him, which is why he first appears to be lazy. Once Shawn is dedicated and determined to a cause, he is extremely driven and ambitious. This is demonstrated by his decision to open up a storefront for his business after only one case.

Shawn is also extremely cunning and observant. He is willing to manipulate those around him and do whatever it takes to get what he needs and successfully tricks hundreds of people into believing he is a psychic for years. He also has a strong sense of self-preservation. The only reason he decided to pretend he was psychic in the first place is to save himself from suspicions the police had about his anonymous tips. While possessing the best of Slytherin, he also possesses the worst as Shawn often doesn't think about the way his actions impact those around him.
