Farming Psitanium is important for buying items and power upgrades in Raz to purchase new power upgrades, consumable items for healing, and much more. It is also one of the most common materials in the game. Those players looking to 100% complete Psychonauts 2 will need to buy everything available in Otto's shop.
Before beginning to farm, players should focus on upgrading their Psitanium Wallets. At the start of the game, players are only able to carry 100 Psitanium at a time, which is essentially nothing. Fortunately, players can head to Otto's Shop and pick up the first upgrade for 75 Psitanium. This will bring the total carrying capacity from 100 to 1,000. The second upgrade will be a bit more difficult to obtain since it requires 750 Psitanium. However, this will bring Raz's maximum carrying capacity from 1,000 Psitanium at a time to 5,000.
Players should also look into picking up the Psimulatanium Pin. This pin sells at Otto's Shop for 750 Psitanium and will double the drop rate of the purple crystals containing Psitanium. This can make it even easier to get a lot of Psitanium in Psychonauts 2 at once.
The Best Psitanium Farming Methods in Psychonauts 2
The best place to go for farming Psitanium would be jumping back and forth between the reception area and the Motherlobe hub lobby. The Psitanium in the Motherlobe lobby will respawn with every visit. Raz can run around the area and explore all the bushes to find the hidden Psitanium. After clearing the area, Raz should jump back into the reception area and then head back into the Motherlobe lobby. All Psitanium will have respawned, and Raz can collect more. Players should repeat this process until they have collected a sufficient amount.
Combining this method with the Psitanium Astral Wallet upgrade and the Psitanium Pin will let Raz carry more Psitanium than players will know what to do with. It is a bit of a monotonous process since players are repeating the same event over and over, but they can collect about 500 Psitanium within a few minutes.
A solid chunk of the trophy/achievement list in Psychonauts 2 is dependent on Raz upgrading his badges, purchasing new Pins, and getting new upgrades. This makes it important to earn a lot of Psitanium throughout the game. Players can also opt to replay older levels to find more Psitanium if the Motherlobe method becomes too redundant.
