The latest word from behind the scenes of the forthcoming TV show based on flagship Blumhouse Television production as it makes its way to the small screen.
After the theatrical release of production on The Purge 4 also underway with a new director in tow - fans of the horror franchise will be happy to know that there will be no gap in continuity between the two projects.

In a recent interview conducted by Vulture, DeMonaco spoke at length in regards to the future of The Purge franchise on both the big and the small screens. Of particular note, DeMonaco assured fans that the TV show will connect to the movies, stating:
"We have a couple of cameos going. The TV show takes place between the first Purge and the last movie. We’re kind of right in the middle of all the Purge timelines, so it’s before Charlie Roan. It’s way after the New Founding Fathers of America have come into power. But in the next Purge movie, Purge 4, the NFFA has just come into power and come up with this crazy conceit of the Purge to help a dying economy. So if 20 Purges have taken place, or 15, we’re probably on the seventh or eighth in the TV show. It’s an established thing that people have gotten used to. I think people will be happy when they see that characters go in and out. Minor characters from the movie do little pop ins, and hopefully we can keep expanding on it."
The mythology that has been previously established by all three The Purge movies has certainly continued to ring with a resounding clarity that has proven to be roughly analogous to contemporary American politics. And keeping the continuity between the films and the TV show in line with one another should serve to please longtime fans of the blockbuster horror series.
With any luck, things will come together in a manner entirely befitting the feature franchise behind the scenes of The Purge TV show, and DeMonaco will manage to make the leap from moviemaking to television production with relative ease.
