Shonda Rhimes' sexy period drama Bridgerton excited fans in 2020, and after watching Daphne Bridgerton's and Simon Basset's romance unfurl on screens, everyone has been waiting for another taste of the show. Netflix went ahead and provided with their season 2 teaser trailer, giving a sneak peek into the banter between the Viscount Bridgerton and a new character, presumably Kate Sharma.
The short clip showed the two having a witty exchange, where Kate very clearly put Anthony in his place, but it looks obvious that the two will have an interesting entanglement coming up. Even though the new season of Bridgerton won't be out until 2022, there are a few questions fans will be pondering until then, or at least until another teaser drops.
Who Is Kate Sharma?
It's clear that the feisty Kate will be more than an equal match for the Viscount, but fans who haven't read the books and only watch the show want to know who the beauty really is. She seems to come from nobility, from her attire, but since she wasn't mentioned in the first season, mystery shrouds the lady.
Kate is a newbie to the ton, and it will be interesting to see how she interacts with others, who her friends are, and what her personality and quirks are, apart from what is seen in this one clip. There have been some memorable quotes on Bridgerton, and Kate will surely add more.
Why Are She And The Viscount Fighting?
The short teaser makes it evident that Viscount Bridgerton and Kate Sharma have met before, and probably not under the best circumstances. Anthony comes out to the bushes expecting an intruder, but he recognizes Kate instantly and looks slightly pleased to see her.
This begs the question of how exactly did the two meet before? And was that interaction as tense as this one seen in the teaser? Fans are excited to learn more about their previous encounter and what went down.
How Will Their Romance Unfold?
At this point, everybody knows that these two characters will end up together. The slow burn will be long and cruel, but fans will love it. It will be very intriguing to see the growing affections between the two characters, who aren't on the best of in this clip.
Will there be lots of angst and tension between them, like there was between Simon and Daphne? Or will it be a gentler, sweeter romance to surprise viewers? Shows like Bridgerton usually have long-drawn-out epic sagas, but only time will tell and fans of Bridgerton will have to wait a while to learn about this romance.
Where Is Daphne?
With the news of Regé-Jean Page exiting Bridgerton, Daphne's fate on the show hung in the balance. She was a married woman with a child, and if the Duke isn't around, how will she be shown with her family, or explain the absence of everybody's favorite Simon?
Fans can't help but wonder whether or not Daphne will be seen much in season 2, and if she was present at the soiree that the Viscount stepped out of to run into Kate Sharma.
Will Kate Fit Into The Family?
The Bridgertons were one of the most respected families in the ton, and each one of their children was considered a catch by everyone else in high society. So, fans wonder whether the newbie will fit into the genteel family and if she will get along with everyone.
Eagle-eyed fans on YouTube were quick to point out that Kate wore a dress in the signature Bridgerton blue color, which the whole family is often seen wearing. This could be a subliminal pointer that Kate will most definitely gel well with the family and that she'll also give fans some more amazing outfits for viewers to swoon over in Bridgerton.
What Happened With The Horses?
In their heated and somewhat flirtatious exchange, Kate was quick to point out that she wasn't quite pleased or even remotely impressed by Anthony and his character, which she stated was as deficient as his horsemanship.
Fans get a clue that one of their earlier rendezvous had something to do with horses, and Anthony had clearly made a big fool of himself in front of the smart, beautiful woman, who appears to be quite good with horses, from the way she speaks.
What Are Lady Whistledown's Thoughts?
How could one forget Lady Whistledown, the most elusive and frustrating characters of Bridgerton? She makes up a greater part of the show and drives its narrative fully, and fans are left wanting to know what the vintage gossip writer's views on Kate are, and what her opinion about them as a couple is.
Audiences were last shown that Penelope Featherington was the salacious gossip monger, but people sense there's more to Lady Whistledown than this simple reveal. Guess they'll just have to wait it out.
What Are Anthony's Requirements For The Perfect Bride?
The main source of the heated exchange between Kate and Anthony was the running list of requirements that the Viscount seemed to have been discussing with other company, which Kate overheard. Snobbish as he is, Anthony would have had some dated notions about virtue and other sundry matters, which is what incensed Kate so much.
Fans are curious to know what this laundry list of Anthony's was, just so that he can be proven wrong by Kate, and out of plain curiosity too — since he didn't seem like the settling type in season 1.
