Each member of the Avengers has their own unique qualities but Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, mostly stands out because she doesn't have to rely on special powers to deal with the numerous antagonists in her universe. The skills she got from her time at the KGB and the Red Room are mostly what keep her going.
Natasha also has numerous incredible remarks throughout her time in the MCU and a good number of these lines show why she is truly unique. Not only do they paint her as a dedicated heroine but also highlight her multiple positive traits. Natasha's words also easily make a case for being the best Avenger.
When She Approves Of The Plan To Reverse The Snap
"Even If There's A Small Chance We Can Undo This, We Owe It To Everyone Not In This Room To Try."
In order to defeat Thanos, the remaining Avengers come up with the cliché yet effective time travel plan. It's a risky move but Natasha feels they should go ahead with it because they owe it to everyone that was a victim of the snap.
Great heroes have comion for others and Natasha proves just how much she cares about her missing colleagues by voting in favor of the plan to save them along with the rest of the individuals who were wiped out. Her words also paint her as someone who is never slowed down by indecision. Whenever something needs to be done, she will act quickly and decisively.
When She Warns Captain America About Consequences
"Steve, You Know What’s About To Happen. Do You Really Want To Punch Your Way Out Of This?”
During the Leipzig-Halle Airport confrontation in Captain America: Civil War, Natasha realizes very early on that things could go very wrong. She warns Steve that their actions might bring them problems but Steve is blinded by the thirst for violence.
Problem-solving can be fun, but the most responsible individuals know that prevention is better than cure. Natasha is clearly one such individual and that's why she warns Steve to go slow. He doesn't. Consequently, viewers get to see one of the best action sequences in Captain America movies but, if he had truly listened to her words, the team might not have fallen apart as badly as it did.
When She Tells Captain America How Much She Values The Team
"I Used To Have Nothing. And Then I Got This. This Job. This Family. And I Was Better Because Of It."
Natasha is devastated after several of the team get affected by the Thanos snap. While having a chat with Steve, she explains to him just how much the team has meant to her so far.
It isn't exactly true that Natasha had nothing before ing the Avengers. She was an operative and also had her own family which audiences got to see in Black Widow. That she values being a member of the Avengers more than her previous job and her own family confirms that she is truly the most loyal member of the group.
When She Grabs Cap's Shield
“I’m Always Picking Up After You Boys.”
During a fight between Steve Rogers and Ultron in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, the villain manages to knock the shield off the hero's arm. Natasha, who is tailing them on a motorcycle picks it up before making a joke about what happened.
Natasha is proud of the fact that she is always able to save the day whenever her male colleagues make mistakes. By doing that she shows that she is very valuable to the team as, without her, plenty would have gone wrong. Apart from her words highlighting how badass she is, they are completely justifiable since she has had to help out Tony, Bruce, and Cliff too in the past.
When She Shows Up To Defend Wanda In Wakanda
"She's Not Alone!"
During one of the best fights in Avengers: Infinity War, Proxima Midnight wrongfully believes she'll make a meal out of Wanda. To her surprise, Natasha arrives to defend her and so do the Dora Milaje led by Okoye.
Being a true Avenger is all about teamwork and in the scene, Natasha reminds fans that even when it's not with her usual colleagues, she is still willing to partner up in order to save whoever is in trouble. It's also impressive how she confronts the Black Order member, letting her know that there is not a fight she will win.
When She Appears Before The Senate Committee
"The World Is A Vulnerable Place, And Yes, We Helped Make It That Way. But We're Also The Ones Best Qualified To Defend It."
In the closing stages of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Natasha appears before a Senate subcommittee, with the senators' goal being to put her in prison. Unfazed, she defends the actions of the S.H.I.E.L.D. before ordering the senators to have her arrested if they so wish.
Sometimes the superheroes leave plenty of damage behind as they are trying to save the world but there's hardly any doubt that their actions are necessary. As an Avenger, Natasha believes in the necessity of superhero work and the undeniable fact that no one else can do it better. And the audience will agree that she is totally right.
When She Explains Her Confidence To Captain America
"I Only Act Like I Know Everything."
Natasha's confidence impresses Steve, who goes ahead to ask how she appears to know almost everything. Well, she doesn't, but that doesn't matter because confidence trumps knowledge.
The Avengers have to deal with all kinds of supervillains on a frequent basis, so confidence is a very important trait to have. The lack of it leads to hesitation and indecision, something Natasha is not fond of. Her bold remark here also reminds Steve of the importance of a trait he hadn't valued that much before he met her.
When She Refuses To Get Fired By Tony.
"That's Not Up To You."
One of Iron Man 2 and he threatens to fire her. An unbothered Natasha tells him he has no authority to do that.
None of the Avengers are supposed to be superior to the others and Natasha clearly knows it. Even though she has been working for Tony, she sees him as an equal, something that also highlights her fiery nature and refusal to be intimidated by anyone. She was only working for the Stark Industries boss under Fury's orders, so it's only him that can fire her.
When She Interrogates Loki
"Thank You For Your Cooperation."
One of the most impressive scenes in the entire MCU involves Natasha interrogating Loki in The Avengers. Loki is cooperative, something which Natasha deeply appreciates.
As a good-hearted hero, Natasha would rather do things the easy way than the hard way. She knows that violence isn't necessary and it's only the stubborn villains that leave the heroes with no other option but to use force. Even though it later emerges that Loki's cooperation wasn't genuine, the diplomatic manner in which Natasha handles him deserves applause.
When She Watches Nick Fury Lose His Consciousness
"Don't Do This To Me, Nick."
In The Winter Soldier, Nick Fury fakes his death after getting attacked by the Winter Soldier. He takes Tetrodotoxin B, a drug created by Bruce Banner to slow down the heart. However, Natasha believes he is dying in one scene and almost breaks down in tears.
It's yet another moment that shows how attached Natasha is to those she works with. Despite having known Nick Fury for only a short time, she can't stand losing him. Her concern also shows how much she appreciates the opportunity Nick gave her by making her a part of the Avengers.
