Comics are now in decline while cinematic universes and trilogies of all time.
That being said, fans are still debating about which of the three movies is the one that should be praised the most. So, which is the superior one: Spider-Man 3?
Spider-Man 3: Humor
Though many people consider Spider-Man 3 a disaster, there are many others who believe it to be a hilarious film once you have the right attitude watching it. If you can just relax and not take it seriously, you will discover that it is incredibly fun and funny.
For example, that awkward Peter dancing scene could actually be quite entertaining if you think about it in a more laid back way. Some scenes and situations that characters get in seem like they were taken straight out of a comedy, so it's only logical to view them that way.
Spider-Man 2: Villain
There is a general consensus that Doctor Octopus is the best villain in the trilogy, even though Willem Dafoe's portrayal of the Green Goblin is quite legendary too.
Both Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus have a personal connection with Peter, but Otto Octavius is also the person who Peter looks up to and ires in many ways - he does respect Norman Osborn though. In addition to all of that, Doctor Octopus gets a redemption arc of his own which is why he is ultimately a more developed villain.
Spider-Man: Uncle Ben
For someone who has been an orphan for the majority of his life, Peter cares immensely about his aunt and uncle. They are the closest family he ever had, so it is obvious that Uncle Ben plays such an important part in Peter's life. And though he was brought in every movie in some way, the original remains the one that portrayed him the best.
We get to see Peter's interactions with Uncle Ben and how Peter's view of his uncle changes from denying him the right to act as a father figure to accepting him as his "father" and understanding everything Uncle Ben has taught Peter, especially the responsibility part.
Spider-Man 3: Peter's Dark Side
One of the biggest mistakes big studios make when creating their superhero movies is that they make their heroes flawless or overpowered. This is why seeing Peter's dark side is so important to understand what kind of person he could have been if he gave into these bad tendencies.
We see his relationship with MJ under strain even in the second film, but his life really goes down - to some extent - in the third movie after he lets the symbiote control him. He seems more confident, but confidence doesn't equal good nature, so Peter practically becomes a jerk.
Spider-Man 2: Romance
Speaking of Peter's relationship with MJ, the second movie was undoubtedly the best one for their romance. This is the film where they finally realize what they really feel towards each other - or rather, they finally let the romance happen (MJ confessed at the end of the first film).
Despite being engaged to another man who can guarantee a good life for her, MJ chooses to be with Peter who also reveals that he is Spider-Man. This does not only mean that they will likely struggle financially, but that they will also constantly have to worry about each other more than regular people would.
Spider-Man: Green Goblin
When it comes to great characters in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, most of them are found in the first two movies. Norman Osborn, later known as the Green Goblin himself, is one of these characters mostly thanks to what the costume designers managed to do and thanks to Willem Dafoe's acting.
The main reason why the Green Goblin is considered a classic Spider-Man villain is because of his silliness - something Peter himself is known for. Besides, Norman is also the father of Peter's best friend which makes Harry's character development better.
Spider-Man 3: Friendship
When it comes to important people in Peter Parker's life, Harry Osborn is the one who comes to mind after Peter's aunt and uncle. Though Harry might first seem like a typical rich kid, there is actually more to him that will learn about throughout the trilogy.
But the movie that really gives his story the conclusion it needed is the third film where Peter and Harry's friendship comes full circle. Harry sacrifices himself to let Peter live after fighting, despising each other, and even dating the same girl.
Spider-Man 2: Action
Another reason why Spider-Man 2 is the most beloved one of the trilogy is that the action in this film is undoubtedly superior to the other two. Surely, the fights in the first one were great and the third film attempted to make them even bigger, but the action in the second movie is the one that truly stands out.
Take, for example, the train scene and the battle between Peter and Otto that precedes it. Another good example would be the scene where doctors attempt to remove the mechanical tentacles from Otto's back and they attack the doctors in response.
Spider-Man: Origin Story
Where would a superhero be without a well-developed origin story? The more interesting you want your hero to be, the more complex you need to make his personality and his backstory is perfect for doing this. This is why Spider-Man does such a good job of telling Spider-Man's origin story.
We see Peter before and after he becomes a superhero. We see his relationship with the people around him change. He becomes a more mature and responsible person who no longer dreams of impressing MJ with a cool car and instead decides to focus on saving the world. This is the real hero.
