Ranma 1/2's source material was already so far ahead of its time that simply adding modern visuals and sound was enough to bring new fans to Ranma in droves. Now, both new and long-time fans will be able to enjoy even more of the Ranma 1/2 reboot, as Season 2 has officially been confirmed to be in production.
The first season adapts approximately the first four volumes of the original manga, leaving off with Akane's restored memories of Ranma. If the second season plans to cover a similar amount of material, it should include Mousse's arrival and finish up with Happosai's introduction to the story. No official release date has been revealed, but more details will be available in the near future.
Ranma 1/2 Season 2 Has Been Confirmed, But Questions Remain
Ranma 1/2's Original Anime Featured a Good Amount of Filler Content
The original Ranma 1/2 anime series, like many other popular adaptations of the time, aired alongside the release of Rumiko Takahashi's manga. In many cases for series like these, issues arise when the anime naturally catches up to its source material. Shows like Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece are famous for their adaptations having ample amounts of filler added in sections where they needed time for the manga to move forward. And Ranma 1/2's original anime was not excluded from this practice.
It has yet to be confirmed whether the Ranma 1/2 remake will be following the events of the manga, anime, or feature a mix of both. Already, the series has proven itself exceptionally faithful to Rumiko Takahashi's order of storytelling, but the original anime began heavily incorporating filler around the point in the series where the remake's first season is leaving off. There have already been subtle changes that hint towards the new anime's faithfulness to the manga, though it is uncertain what direction the adaptation will take in its season.
Ranma 1/2's Production By MAPPA Is a Blessing and a Curse
MAPPA Is Currently Producing Several Popular Anime Series
Studio MAPPA is one of the most prolific animation studios in anime, producing more than a few of the most popular series to have been released in recent years. Their work on Attack on Titan soared their reputation to incredible heights, and the studio's fantastic visuals have become a trademark of their consistently well received projects. Ranma 1/2's first season featured distinctly MAPPA animation, and was all the better for it. However, there may be one major downside to the studio's involvement.

The Ranma 1/2 Remake Will Have To Fix The Series' Most Problematic Character
The Ranma 1/2 remake has been fantastic but it still has to deal with the series' most problematic character, the terrible Master Happosai.
MAPPA, despite their track record for high quality adaptations, is spread thin across several different series. Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Vinland Saga, among many other popular anime, all have projects currently in production by the animation studio, and there's no telling when any will see future releases. Regardless, Ranma 1/2's second season has been officially announced, and the series' popularity may make it a priority for MAPPA. More information will come at a later date, so fans will want to keep an eye on the series.
Ranma 1/2 is available to stream on Netflix.

In this comedic series, martial artist Ranma Saotome navigates life with a unique predicament: he transforms into a girl when splashed with cold water. His engagement to Akane Tendo adds further complexity, as they encounter numerous challenges within familial and martial arts dynamics.
