Of course, as is the case with within the show has their own distinct ideas and thought processes for the decisions they make, which gives audiences a chance to determine who they want to get behind and a lot of that is down to likability.

Henry Osgood

Henry Osgood - Ratched

Henry Osgood might not be showcased as much as some of the other characters in the series, but he certainly plays a big part in the overall story. Henry is a spoiled brat and someone who gets whatever he wants, all while treating the staff at his family home terribly.

He kills one of the workers and while his life ends up going downhill due to ending up with no limbs, a big part of that is down to his own decision to spike Dr. Hanover. Henry even gets one of his staff to kill his own mother, only to then get the person he does sent to prison, showing he has absolutely no morals at all.

Edmund Tolleson

Edmund Tolleson

Edmund Tolleson is certainly one of the most important characters in Ratched, and someone who certainly suffers from mental health issues. However, even though he clearly is in a desperate need for some key treatment, there's no denying that the acts he commits throughout the series are horrendous.

Edmund murders four priests, a guard, and seven nurses along the way and all the while seems totally unmoved by his actions. Edmund shows a lack of respect or care for anyone other than Dolly, and despite the fact Mildred tries to do her best by him, not even that is good enough to stop his unhinged behavior.

Lenore Osgood

Lenore Osgood

There's a reason that her son is a horrendous person, and it's because of the way that Lenore Osgood brings him up. She's just as stuck up and snobby as he is, and the manner in which she treats other people showcases that, trying to prove that she is better than everyone.

While Lenore is only looking out for Henry by the fact she wants to kill Dr. Hanover, her obsession with murdering him is something that makes her very unlikeable. Considering that Henry doesn't even care about him eventually dying showcases that her obsession isn't worthwhile.

Dr. Richard Hanover

Dr. Richard Hanover

Dr. Richard Hanover is certainly an interesting character on the show because deep down he really wants to help patients and try to make other people feel better. However, the manner in which he goes about doing that often turns out to be disastrous.

His treatments are borderline torture at points with certain people, and the manner in which he treats his staff is often shockingly poor. Dr. Hanover has no real concept of his own reality and the issues he creates though, which is what makes him quite scary at times, especially with his drug abuse added in.

Charlotte Wells

Charlotte Wells

It's hard to truly rank Charlotte Wells because she has a multiple personality disorder, which means that she is basically several different characters all wrapped up into one. However, that unpredictability is quite fun to watch and makes for some great moments in the show.

Each of her different personalities is very unique and very over the top, with the comments about Hitler often bringing some funny moments. She's best when she gets to just be herself though, with her kindness being incredibly clear.

Nurse Dolly

Nurse Dolly

Nurse Dolly is firmly responsible for the death of one guard due to the plan that she creates alongside Edmund in order to spring him free. However, she is quite a likeable character at times because even though she's in love with a maniac, Dolly is a fun person who is nice to everyone she encounters.

Nurse Dolly might not be great at following the rules which leads her to having a relationship with Edmund, but she does clearly care for him. She's one of the only people that treats him as a human, and that is certainly a likeable trait.

Betsy Bucket

Betsy Bucket

Early on in the series, Nurse Betsy Bucket is made out to be one of the most unlikeable characters in Ratched. However, as the show progresses and more of her personality is able to be shown, it becomes clear that she's actually a very fun and kind character.

Bucket spends too much of the early series as the hard-nosed nurse who blindly goes along with whatever Dr. Hanover wants. But when she learns about Mildred Ratched's past, Betsy begins to showcase a softer, funnier side, which leads to them having a real girl power run together that makes her very likeable in the end.

Mildred Ratched

Ratched Green Light

Of course, as the lead character that everyone is aware of going into the show, Mildred Ratched is a very likeable character. While she is certainly full of mystery and does commit a lot of poor acts, that doesn't stop her from being a very likeable character as well.

Mildred is just incredibly compelling due to her intelligence and the fact that she is always one step ahead of everyone. She brings out some hilarious moments with her dry delivery, with the peach scene being a great example of that. Even the bad decisions she makes are often with the desire of trying to help her brother, which showcases her kindness.

Gwendolyn Briggs

Gwendolyn Briggs

Gwendolyn Briggs is slightly more likeable than Mildred Ratched, just because of the manner in which she behaves. Unlike Mildred, Gwendolyn does things by the book and doesn't cause hurt to anyone, always trying to help out where she can in any given situation.

She battles cancer bravely and also showcases her strength by accepting her sexuality and owning it, which was something that wasn't simple to do at the time this show is set. She has a kind heart and a warm personality which makes Gwendolyn very likeable.

Huck Finnigan

Huck Finnigan

Huck Finnigan stands out above everyone in the show as the nicest character. He is the only character within the series who genuinely has everyone's best interests at heart, hoping to help as many people as possible. In the hospital, Huck is the one who tries to stop the torture that some of the patients are forced to go through.

He's a war veteran who has been through the wringer in his life, but he doesn't allow that to stop him from being a positive person who tries to grasp life. Huck ends up as the head nurse and while that position ultimately leads to his death, it showcases his true care for others.
