A Reacher season 3 wrapped filming in July 2024, based on Child's seventh book in the series, Persuader.

According to Deadline, a spinoff titled Neagley is in development with the streaming service, following Reacher's former military partner and current investigative assistant s Neagley. The show would see Maria Sten reprise her role as the security expert, with Reacher showrunner Nick Santora teaming up with Nicholas Wootton (Prison Break) to co-run the spinoff. The show will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios.

Santora, Wootton, and Child will serve as executive producers alongside Don Granger and Lisa Kunner. Other executive producers attached via Skydance Television include David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell, while Niko Fernandez, Carolyn Harris, and Kenny Madrid will also be involved through Skydance. Nothing has been revealed about Neagley as of writing, other than the show is being fast-tracked, meaning a formal announcement from Prime Video could arrive soon.

What Neagley's New Spinoff Means For The Reacher Franchise

Reacher's Universe Is About To Expand

While Reacher season 2 ended with the titular character going off on his own, Neagley has already been confirmed to return in season 3. This announcement established how dynamic the duo have become, justifying the case for a Neagley spinoff series. Prime Video is no stranger to expanding its most successful originals, such as The Boys' ongoing spinoff Gen V alongside two forthcoming shows. The streamer has also been embracing action thrillers in its lineup, such as an The Terminal List prequel and Cross, based on James Patterson's Alex Cross novel series.

Neagley will return for Reacher season 3 but despite not appearing in the source book, there is an obvious if disappointing way to insert her into it.

While the action levels of Neagley remain unclear as of writing, it will likely have a similar high-octane mood as the main show, albeit with a spin that makes it unique to the title character. Characters from Reacher may also appear, including Alan Ritchson himself or other of the 110th Special Investigators Unit. Despite this lack of concrete information, Prime Video clearly values the universe of Child's work, wanting to expand it in original directions thanks to the success of the flagship series.

What We Think Of Neagley Getting Her Own Reacher Spinoff

Reacher Could Be The Action Franchise Prime Video's Been Looking For

With Prime Video vying for an action franchise, such as their attempt with the negatively-received Citadel, Neagley might be just what the streamer needs to scaffold a shared universe of espionage-like TV shows. However, one big element of Reacher season 2's success was the central duo, who play off one another so well it's hard to imagine either without the other. If Ritchson isn't poised to appear in the spinoff, though, it can reveal how well Sten's character can hold the screen on her own.

Reacher season 3's release date is currently unannounced as of writing.
