Warning: This article contains spoilers for Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire
Summary
- Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire ends on a cliffhanger and leaves a lot of questions unanswered.
- The sequel, Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver could tie up the loose ends of the first movie.
- Questions in need of answering in The Scargiver involve Jimmy, iral Atticus Noble, Titus, Gunnar, Princess Issa, Tarak, Balisarius, and Devra Bloodaxe.
With Zack Snyder's new space opera off to a start, Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver has numerous loose ends it needs to tie up from the first movie. Even though Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire has plenty of lore and backstory to offer, not all the questions it raised were fully answered. While some queries arise from certain lines of dialogue, others tend to revolve around subtle hints and throwaway comments.
As implied by the subtitle of the first movie, the Rebel Moon narrative was never going to reach its conclusion within a single installment. However, that doesn't stop viewers from wondering what will happen in the first sequel, and possibly continue into release of Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver.
10 Will We See Jimmy In Action In Rebel Moon: Part 2?
Anthony Hopkins's character didn't have much to do in the first Rebel Moon.
Once a part of the slain king's Imperium forces, Jimmy is either the last of his kind or at least a rarity. Despite being designed for military purposes, Jimmy is used by Imperium forces during their occupation of Veldt to simply move cargo, and as a figurative punching bag. Giving Jimmy such a rich backstory seems like a waste when his relatively minor role in A Child of Fire is considered. With Kora's forces inevitably set to face more battles in the next Rebel Moon movie, Jimmy's abilities will be invaluable to the rebellion.
Jimmy and the rest of his kind refuse to fight since the death of the king, so it would seemingly take a lot to get him to pick up arms again. However, Jimmy stops a sexual assault in A Child of Fire with the use of a firearm, so he does have certain triggers that could coax him back to the battlefield. Zack Snyder has also hinted that Jimmy has an expanded role in the Rebel Moon sequel and director's cuts. If so, there will be greater clarity regarding Jimmy's likelihood of standing up to the Imperium's forces.
9 Is iral Atticus Noble Immortal?
The Rebel Moon villain has cheated death at least once.
iral Atticus Noble is an intimidating villain, in part due to his apparent disregard for his own safety. A Child of Fire shows Noble marching into battle armed with nothing but a staff — and fighting well. The reason behind his recklessness is revealed when the Imperium recovers his dead body from the battlefield and resurrects him using their advanced technology. It would be easy to assume that this means Noble cannot die, but this isn't necessarily the case.

How Many Rebel Moon Movies Will There Be?
The first two Rebel Moon movies are confirmed and will appear on Netflix, but Zack Snyder has plans to expand his new space opera further.
The process of bringing iral Noble back to life doesn't go smoothly, with it looking like the Imperium may lose their valued officer. In addition, it seems as though Noble's body needs to be relatively intact for the process to stand a chance of being effective. So, if Noble is defeated in a manner more thorough than Kora was able to manage in A Child of Fire, it's possible the villainous iral could be slain once and for all in The Scargiver.
8 Was General Titus' Surrender Justified?
The first Rebel Moon movie shows Titus after his fall from grace.
The tactical mind of General Titus could be pivotal to Kora's rebellion, but there is one decision that haunts him. In Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire, Titus is shown as a fallen leader who dwells intensely on an error he believes he made during his time with the Imperium. After being forced to issue a surrender from him and his troops, Titus's men were then put to death as a result of his decision.
Rebel Moon has already shown it is not opposed to telling stories through flashbacks. So, this means that The Scargiver could include footage of the instance that sits so heavily on Titus's conscience. The details of the battle that led to Titus's surrender have been vague so far, so seeing why the fallen general made his decision could add some weight and context to his reasoning.
7 Will Gunnar Become A Solider?
Kora's resistance will need all the help it can get in The Scargiver.
Despite his willingness to assist Kora in rounding up fighters, Gunnar is not a warrior himself. He's a lifelong farmer, and the events of A Child of Fire mark the first time he has left his home planet of Veldt. Although he is pivotal in the group's success during the battle on Gondival, his fighting ability is extremely limited due to his inexperience with much beyond farming. Gunnar's main contribution on Gondival consists of freeing Kora while under gunpoint himself.
So, it's clear that Gunnar has the bravery required to stand up to the Imperium. He and his new allies seem to be under the impression at the end of the first movie that they are relatively safe for now, so it's unclear if he will train as a fighter or return to the life he's always known. The resistance is already short-handed, so Gunnar may not have a choice in the matter.
6 Who Will Take Over The Veldtian Community In The Wake Of Sindri's Death?
The farmers need a new leader.
The world of Rebel Moon seems to be one where food is not in plentiful supply, and so communities such as the one on Veldt have become highly sought after. This is shown to be true during the opening of A Child of Fire when iral Noble beats Sindri to death to establish dominance. Although the Imperium presence has since been vanquished, their return is likely imminent. Therefore, the farming community will require not only new leadership but also a leader with combat experience.
A peaceful patriarch such as Sindri is no longer sufficient, and a warrior will need to guide the community as well as defend it. Luckily, Kora and Gunnar have rounded up a group that is rife with candidates, and Kora or Gunnar could even lead the farming village themselves. However, whoever takes charge can't be too indispensable to the rebellion's cause, as they could be called away to fight at any time.
5 Is Rebel Moon's Princess Issa Really Dead?
Her powers were too special not to return in The Scargiver.
One of the most compelling scenes in the first Rebel Moon movie shows a young princess bringing back a small bird from the dead. Known as Princess Issa, this girl also goes by such names as the Chalice and the Redeemer. Princess Issa is shown only in flashbacks in A Child of Fire, as she is killed in a coup orchestrated by Regent Balisarius. During Kora's time with the Imperium, it was her duty to protect the princess — a task that she ultimately failed.
Princess Issa's abilities feel too important for her to only feature briefly in the Rebel Moon franchise, and it's possible she could apply her death-cheating powers to herself. Issa's return could help soothe Kora's guilty soul and also contribute immensely to the resistance. Princess Issa was attacked and believed killed by the Imperium, so she would likely be willing to use her powers of resurrection to benefit Kora's forces if she survived.
4 Does The Motherworld Have Another Name?
The name of Rebel Moon's Motherworld could reveal a lot.
Rebel Moon has been especially coy about revealing the true name of the Motherworld. There could be many reasons for this, including the possibility that it has no other title. However, if the home of the Imperium does go by another name, there could be implications throughout the Rebel Moon franchise. Zack Snyder has already confirmed that Rebel Moon is part of a shared universe with his Army of the Dead franchise, which means the Motherworld may simply be a future version of Earth. If not, there could be an equally intriguing reason why the name of the Motherworld is withheld in A Child of Fire.
3 Will Tarak's Beast-Taming Abilities Be Utilized Again?
Tarak's power could be immense in the second Rebel Moon movie.
There are a few characters in A Child of Fire who display abilities far beyond those of ordinary humans, and Tarak is one of them. When earning his freedom, Tarak bonds on a seemingly telepathic level with an especially boisterous bennu. His skill at taming the griffin-like creature enables him to ride it through the air. The rebellion's resources are not vast, so Tarak's power to calm and make use of wild animals would be invaluable to Kora and her limited forces. Additionally, it would seem quite pointless if the first Rebel Moon movie were to introduce such a specific talent only for it not to appear again.
2 How Can Regent Balisarius Access The Astral Plane?
He's shown speaking with iral Noble near the end of Rebel Moon: Part One.
The Imperium has access to some impressive technology, including a way to bring people back from the dead and a means of communicating over vast distances in a virtual environment. The only other character that's shown to be able to access the astral plane is iral Noble, and his body is riddled with implants that enable him to do so. Balisarius is not shown much in A Child of Fire, and it's unclear whether he also has the same components as part of his physiology.
The procedure required to have the implants fitted is likely to be quite invasive, so the regent may have been unwilling to undergo the operation. However, it's also possible that Balisaruis is in ill health and therefore requires the implants for needs other than accessing the astral plane. Unfortunately, the regent's limited screen time means the mystery surrounding the man will need to wait to be revealed until the release of The Scargiver.

Rebel Moon's Child Of Fire & Scargiver Title Importances Detailed By Zack Snyder: "Two Myths Are Braided Together"
Zack Snyder details the importance of the titles for both Rebel Moon films, A Child of Fire and The Scargiver, and how they relate to each other.
1 Will Devra Bloodaxe Return In Rebel Moon: Part 2?
Darrian's sister initially chose not to help Kora
Fearful of taking on the Imperium directly, Devra Bloodaxe rejects Kora's call for aid in A Child of Fire. However, her brother Darrian does accept the request to Veldt's cause. The Bloodaxe name is highly revered by those who seek to quash the Imperium's brutal rule, but Devra feels more comfortable attempting to do so from the shadows. Darrian's sacrifice during the battle on Gondival could be enough to bring Devra into the fray, but she may also have other plans during the events of Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver.
Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire is available to stream on Netflix. The sequel, Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver, will be released on Netflix in April 2024.
