Batman have finally put aside their differences and accepted one another. The Bat-Family is huge, but not all of its have always been able to find their place in that family — like Jason Todd, who has long been on the outs with Batman. But now father and son have finally reconciled.

In Batman #148 by Chip Zdarsky and Jorge Jiménez, readers finally see Batman and Red Hood reconcile after years of being at odds. With Zur-En-Arrh on the verge of taking over Gotham, Red Hood forgives Batman for using a machine to rewrite Jason's mind, forcing him to obey the no-kill rule. Jason knows that it wasn't really Batman doing this, but Zur's influence.

With Batman forgiven, Jason even goes one step forward and offers to sacrifice himself in Batman's place. Batman's grand plan to defeat Zur-En-Arrh once and for all requires a death, and Jason offers up his own life in place of Batman's. It's during this conversation that Jason first brings up the idea, and Jason its he truly is a member of the Bat-Family.

Red Hood Is Ready to Work Together with Batman and the Bat-Family

Red Hood has always had a difficult time fitting into the Bat-Family because of his life circumstances. When he first became Robin, he was the second Robin after Dick Grayson. This was at a time when there wasn't much of a Bat-Family to speak of, as the only real were Batman, Nightwing, and sometimes Barbara Gordon. Even then, Nightwing and Batman were sometimes not on speaking . This problem was exacerbated by how Nightwing really didn't seem to know how to feel about there being a second Robin.

Unfortunately, even after his resurrection and return as Red Hood, Jason Todd wasn't able to find a place in this larger family because of his willingness to kill.

After Jason stopped being a true villain, the family still kept him at arm's length, and Batman seemed to want very little to do with him, kicking him out of the family and Gotham several times over his history. It seems all of that is behind them now, as Jason its he's a member of the family, and Red Hood sacrifices himself to prove it.

Red Hood and Batman have had a complicated history, but Red Hood seems willing to forgive. While what Batman has done to Red Hood over the years shouldn't be forgotten, if Red Hood is truly ready to move on, then this fight against Failsafe/Zur-En-Arrh seems like a great start. Not only did Red Hood help take down Zur, but he fully placed his trust in Batman and the Bat-Family to do it, showing that he's serious about reing them. Whether Red Hood will give up lethal force is still unknown, but for right now, it seems that Red Hood is officially working with Batman once again.
