Contains spoilers to Red Hood: Outlaws Episode 11!Despite their intense rivalry, taking the place of the Justice League - and Batman's adopted son is doing it a little too well.
Jason Todd has teamed up with Bizarro and Artemis to form their own Trinity and pave their own way as the Outlaws. After botching one of Martian Manhunter's responsibilities, the team has been allowed to take over the Watchtower in the Justice League's stead while things are set right. While Jason may not want to be like his brother Dick, he sure has managed to follow in his footsteps.
Red Hood: Outlaws has the creative team of Patrick R. Young, Nico Bascuñán, Javier Rodríguez Véjares, Sebastián Franchini, Lorenzo Di Santo, Camille Cruz, Kylie Hunsinger, Mickey, and Ousman Dukuray. Episode 10 of the WEBTOON/DC series features the titular team after Jason's interaction with Batman, in which he volunteered his team to man the watchtower instead of letting Batman appoint Nightwing to the task. However, this was done out of pride, and he didn't consult his team beforehand. This leads Jason to apologize for being a "total Dick Grayson." Although this is predominantly a jab at his brother, he couldn't be more right in noting the similarity.
Jason Todd & Dick Grayson Are More Alike Than They Think
Like Nightwing, Jason is a headstrong hero who leaps before he looks, though he puts his own twist on the action by also trying to uncover League secrets. Like Nightwing founding the Teen Titans, Red Hood believes in his Outlaws, even as he puts his team in a spot where they may be biting off more than they can chew. Yet by doing so, he has made a big leadership call, stepping out of Batman's shadow with his own team and ambitions, just as Dick did way back when. Nightwing has often been perceived as a natural leader, while Red Hood has a tendency to do his own thing despite having the Bat-Family behind him. Having spent so much time together and having had the same mentor, it isn't a big surprise that Jason has managed to pick up some of Dick's best and worst qualities.
Compared to Jason, Nightwing has always been a bit of a boyscout. He's a role model others have frequently looked up to. Jason and Dick were very different Robins and their lives took major divergences thanks to their experiences. However, with this new leadership role and the increased responsibility he's thrust himself into, Red Hood is proving to have the same leadership instincts as his brother. With more time and earned trust from his peers and mentors - as well as the right team backing him up - this opportunity gives Red Hood the chance to not just be like Nightwing, but to outshine him.
