Netflix's moviefirst Red Notice trailer showcases the huge scale and action, but it also clearly is selling audiences on the promise of seeing three of the world's biggest current movie stars together.
Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot all have had different paths to fame, but each of them has a connection to DC in some fashion. Ryan Reynolds' goes back the farthest, as he starred in 2011's Black Adam, but fans don't have to wait that long to see him on screen with other DC actors.
The Rock and Netflix teamed up to create Red Notice, which is expected to be one of the streaming service's biggest movies yet. The idea of Johnson, Reynolds, and Gadot sharing the screen is sure to draw a lot of attention. The trio represents three different eras for DC movies in a short amount of time, with Reynolds the past, Gadot the present, and Johnson the future. Unfortunately for the DCEU, it can't replicate this team-up. Gadot's Wonder Woman and Johnson's Black Adam have a future in the shared universe, but Reynolds' days as Green Lantern are certainly behind him. Instead of the DCEU managing to bring these actors together on screen for the first time, it will be Red Notice that gets credit for the team-up.
The DCEU not being able to bring Wonder Woman, Black Adam, and Green Lantern together is a missed opportunity, but it goes back to Warner Bros.' vision for its DC movies constantly changing over the last decade. Even though this full team-up might not happen in the future, the DCEU can reunite two-thirds of Red Notice's cast still. Black Adam and Wonder Woman will both play a role in the DCEU's future, so a crossover is possible. Wonder Woman 3 potentially. If either Wonder Woman and Black Adam team-up happens, though, Reynolds' Green Lantern won't be part of it.
Some DC fans might feel disappointed that Black Adam, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman won't share the screen, but at least Red Notice can make that possible. The chemistry between Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds is evident from early looks at the film. That could only fuel the desire from many to see the trio in a DC film together. Red Notice is doing its best to make good on its DC team-up, especially with Gadot's role mirroring Wonder Woman's Batman v Superman plot.
