With the cast of The Challenge: Ride or Dies announced, the trailer for the season was finally released to get the audience ready for the season’s premiere on October 12. The trailer shows this to be another major season with high-stakes challenges to win $1 million.
Based on the trailer, each ride-or-die team seems to have its fair share of drama, whether it be related to quitting the show, injuries, or their friendships being tested in the house. From the glimpses of the season in the trailer, Reddit didn’t disappoint when it came to sharing their reactions.
Back To The Real Thing
After The Challenge: USA left fans disappointed in the final where everyone except two competitors quit, fans couldn’t be more ready to see the MTV series return. Seeing familiar faces of challengers that the audience has come to cheer for or cheer against never felt so good.
This Redditor said what everyone was thinking the second this trailer dropped when they wrote, “God after USA, I'm ready for to get back to the real thing.” The collective sigh of relief felt by the audience was captured perfectly at that moment.
Kaycee Is Missing
As a competitor some Redditors never want to see again, Kaycee’s absence in the trailer couldn’t have been more noticed by Challenge fans. Some comments questioned Kaycee’s role in the season and whether this is a sign that she plays another “boring” game.
Runfreely sums up people’s feelings best with their shady comment, saying, “The way returning champ Kaycee is nowhere to be seen in the trailer…” Typically, a champ returning the season after a win is a major moment, but so far Kaycee’s return hasn’t been treated that way.
The Audience And The Mute Button Will Be Ride Or Dies
After seeing Aneesa and Nany’s partners being Jordan and Johnny Bananas, respectively, there was a flood of comments talking about how confessionals will be filled, with Aneesa and Nany saying they deserve a win and aren’t being carried by their partners.
Although some may see these women as challengers who deserve more respect, there are many who could do without hearing about how Aneesa and Nany are underestimated constantly in the competition. One Redditor even goes as far as to say, “My mute button will be getting a workout.”
Wow! Challengers Can Bring Their Own Partner!
As much as Challenge fans are excited to see the main series return, there was some disappointment when it comes to the cast. Most often, Redditors mentioned how they found themselves only a fan of one person on each team, or in a fair amount of cases, they dislike the entire team.
Ismyshowon said it best, saying, “Reading that competitors can bring their own partners: ooooh fun! Seeing the partners chosen: oooookay.” With much of the cast being rookies with a few staple challengers, this disappointment felt by fans seemed to be natural.
TJ Hates Quitters But Fans Love To See Him React
It’s never been a secret how TJ feels about quitters when it comes to The Challenge. At this point, if someone quits, everyone watching knows exactly what comes next. The great TJ lecture gives a lecture about quitting and being disappointed.
However, if the audience is really lucky, they get his classic line. In the trailer, this moment is given a lot of attention as someone quits the show. Devmcq can’t wait for this season because they are “already excited for the ‘take care, hope to see you never’ moment.”
The Challenge: Nothing But Finals
Every season, The Challenge steps its game up with bigger and better challenges to prepare the competitors to compete in the final, which only seems to get more difficult. The trailer showed some major explosions, running on moving trucks, and jumping off buildings that highlight the extreme competitions challengers will do to qualify for the final.
One Redditor focused on this aspect of the trailer, writing, “The Challenge: Finals. Where every mission is a mini-final. As is every elimination round.” This captures how The Challenge continues to grow and push players to their limits.
You Cannot Copy His Walk This Season
After winning Survivor Turkey twice, one of the most challenging finals in War of the Worlds, and being disqualified on War of the Worlds 2, fans have been waiting for to bring back Turbo to compete again.
As significant as Turbo’s win on War of the Words was, it’s hard to forget that one of his most iconic moments was his argument with fellow competitor Jordan about mocking and copying his walk. With this in mind, JSK23 shares their excitement for Turbo’s return, saying, “Mr. Walk is back baby!”
Placing Bets
With the trailer showing Nelson is back in the competition this season, Flyingboat asks the question everyone was wondering about when it comes to his confessionals, “What's the over/under on how many times Nelson says ‘Ride or Die’?”
This comment resulted in some estimating Nelson would say “ride or die” around 1.5 times per confessional. The one thing Nelson is known for is he will repeatedly crack jokes that reiterate a Challenge season’s theme across his confessionals, so this feels like something that could realistically happen.
The Unthinkable Needs To Happen
Looking at some of the partnerships of this season led fans to think about how some competitors who haven’t won a final ever, or at least in a while, have been teamed up with major competitive threats for Ride or Dies.
In a nice reference to Rivals, Competitive-Story-88 writes, “‘For Jordan to win this challenge the unthinkable needs to happen, ANESSA needs to win a challenge.’ -Evelyn on Rivals voice.” And with Aneesa’s luck, this truly may be unthinkable when it comes to Jordan getting a win this season.
The Challenge: Besties
Of all Challenge seasons that tested competitors’ relationships, this season takes it to a new level with its focus on friendships based on the trailer. Many great friendships have come from the show, and those teams seem to have the best chance of winning this season if they don’t fall apart first.
Redditors had plenty to say about the season's name, but in one of the more lighthearted takes on the name, KO620181 stated, “We’ve seen rivals… we’ve seen exes… and now… TJ Lavin presents The Challenge: Besties.”
