rumored to be called Regular Show: The Lost Tapes. If that is indeed the title of the revival, Regular Show’s return could actually be an anthology featuring “untold stories” set during the series’ original run.

A Regular Show anthology would work perfectly considering that most episodes of the original series were standalone adventures. Apart from a few arcs, especially the ones involving Pops in the final two seasons, Regular Show was never worried about continuity and having overarching stories. This allowed the Cartoon Network hit series to play around with its characters and world every week, although not every park crew member got the same amount of time in the spotlight. For example, we know very little about Hi Five Ghost, including what kind of being he is actually supposed to be.

The New Regular Show Can Finally Give Hi Five Ghost An Origin Story

What Exactly Is Hi Five Ghost?

Hi Five Ghost in Regular Show

Regular Show: The Lost Tapes has the opportunity to revisit some of the characters who didn’t get much attention in the original series and could finally give us an episode dedicated to Hi Five Ghost’s past. While there were a couple of Hi Five Ghost-centered episodes in Regular Show, some of the biggest questions about the character were never answered. This includes whether Hi Five Ghost was ever alive and why his body is shaped like that. Even after eight years, there’s no consensus about what Hi Give Ghost is supposed to be.

Hi Five Ghost married a human woman, Celia, and their son was a ghost like his father.

Hi Five Ghost was shown to be a ghost as a baby, suggesting he was born like that. Additionally, he has a brother, Low Five Ghost, who is also a ghost. However, Hi Five Ghost was also shown to be uncomfortable whenever someone would bring up death, implying that he did die at some point. Trying to find logic within the world of Regular Show can be a waste of time – the characters are meant to be strange, larger-than-life beings whose existences hardly make any sense – but everything about Hi Five Ghost does raise some hilarious questions.

Hi Five Ghost Deserves More Attention In The Regular Show Reboot

Hi Five Ghost Was Massively Underused In Regular Show

Regardless of his untold origin story, Hi Five Ghost deserved better in Regular Show. Of all the main cast of Regular Show, Hi Five Ghost was arguably the most underused. He was often relegated to being Muscle Man’s sidekick, and while Hi Five Ghost was a great best friend, he should have had more solo adventures. Mordecai and Rigby were the protagonists, but characters like Skips, Muscle Man, and Benson all had quite a few episodes dedicated entirely to them and their pasts. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case for Hi Five Ghost.

Granted, the mysteries about Hi Five Ghost’s past are likely intentional. The fact that he just happens to be the ghost of an arm with a hand sticking out for a head makes Hi Five Ghost hilarious by default, which is why we might never actually learn what exactly he and his brother are. Regular Show makes no effort to explain why Benson is a gumball machine either, so the questions about Hi Five Ghost’s existence can easily remain unanswered. That said, Hi Five Ghost can be a hilarious character and deserves more love in the new series.

Regular Show’s Untold Stories Can Make The Reboot Worth It

“The Lost Tapes” Sounds Like A Great Concept If That's Really The Title

Whether we need a Regular Show revival or sequel is debatable. Regular Show’s series finale was incredible and honored all the great aspects of the show, from its inherent absurdity to how much viewers cared about the characters. That said, a series of standalone episodes set before the events of season 7 would be a fun way of bringing Regular Show back. Much has yet to be revealed about this new Regular Show, including whether it will focus on new characters or establish names like Mordecai and Rigby.

Regular Show Reboot Already Has The Perfect Way To Bring The Show’s Best Character Without Ruining His Ending

A new Regular Show is in the works, but given how season 8 ended, it remains to be seen how certain characters from the park crew will return.

Even if the Regular Show revival is about the old park crew and brings back the entire cast, setting it before they went to space would avoid messing with the original series’ ending. The age of time was never really clear in Regular Show, meaning they could tell countless stories set anywhere between the events of the final two seasons. Any other option would be tricky, particularly because “A Regular Epic Final Battle” showed what happened to each character up to 20 years after the finale.
