A retail listing may have just leaked the first details surrounding Resident Evil 9 and other potential Resident Evil remakes. It's long been rumored that Capcom is continuing its successful formula of remaking the beloved horror franchise's past titles while also moving things forward with a new entry, similar to how it did with the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes releasing in between the first-person Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil 8: Village, with a remake of Resident Evil 4 coming after.

According to a PS5 game listing from PlayAsia, the Resident Evil 9 will be called Resident Evil 9: Revenant Shadows, and will tell "a fresh story" with both new characters and the return of familiar faces in a "terrifying world filled with new threats and mysteries". There are also further PS5 listings for Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil - Code: Veronica, and Resident Evil Zero.

Resident Evil 5 Seems To Be The Next Big Remake

While Resident Evil Zero Appears To Be An HD Remaster

The listings seem to indicate that the prequel, Resident Evil Zero will be an HD remaster on PS5. It didn't mention whether this will be a PS5 port of the existing remaster from 2016, or yet another version of the game, however. Meanwhile, Code Veronica has no mention of whether it is a post, remaster or remake on the site, with the listing simply stating that it will be "Compatible with PlayStation 5".

The listing for Resident Evil 5 tells a very different story, however. The description states that there's been "new technology developed specifically for the game, as well as incredible changes to both the gameplay and world of Resident Evil" and promises to "revolutionize the series by delivering an unbelievable level of detail, realism, and control", which sounds a lot more like what Capcom's intended to do with its previous Resident Evil remakes. This one is the least surprising, of course, as Capcom has been working its way through the numbered games in order since Resident Evil 2, and an update to Resident Evil 5's Steam page recently hinted that a remake could be on its way.

Unfortunately, none of the listings have a release date. With several showcases coming up over the coming weeks as part of the Summer Game Fest, however, it wouldn't be surprising if players got their first look at Resident Evil 9 and the new releases of Resident Evil 5, Zero, and Code Veronica very soon.
