The Resident Evil franchise is one of the most popular and successful video game franchises of all time, with the series still going strong today after the series debuted in the 1990s. In addition to its revolutionary horror gameplay, the series is popular due to its fan-favorite characters that have continued to bring fans back to the series.
One of the most popular characters in the Resident Evil franchise, in addition to the likes of Jill Valentine and Arnold Wesker, is Chris Redfield. Agent Redfield is the ‘action man’ of the game and certainly has some of the most exciting and action-packed moments across the history of the franchise.
United States Airforce
Chris Redfield is one of the most skilled agents of the BSAA, with Redfield being an expert at using knives, guns, and even hand to hand combat. While he was taught some of these skills at the BSAA and S.T.A.R.S., he also gained much of his experience in the United States Airforce.
It was in the United States Airforce that Chris Redfield gained the reputation and experience necessary to the fight against the Umbrella Corporation and become one of the most skilled zombie killers in the world.
Attitude
Chris Redfield is the typical and archetypal action hero of the Resident Evil Universe, with the character possessing the military background, muscles, and weaponry that generally comes with an action hero.
However, in addition to the muscles and weapons, Chris Redfield also has the attitude of an 80s action hero. Redfield often clashes with his superiors over the best course of action and is known to act on his own if he believes he’s in the right.
Personal Stats
Chris Redfield’s character design may change depending upon the video game he is appearing in, but his stats stay relatively similar. The character typically stands between 5ft 11” and 6ft “1 depending upon the video game.
Further, his weight will also vary, with the character weighing anywhere between 177 pounds and 22o pounds. For those who may be curious, his blood type has also been revealed to be O.
Suspended From The Police Force
As said earlier in this list, Chris Redfield, despite being one of the most popular heroes in the series, has an attitude problem. This has made him particularly difficult to work with, most notably for senior figures above Redfield.
It comes as no surprise then that Chris Redfield was suspended from the Police Force after being aggressive to his colleagues. That being said, Redfield did do this on purpose (though it was certainly within character).
Claire Is His Only Family
Chris Redfield is known for being incredibly close to his family, with both Claire Redfield and Jill Valentine (his partner) being his closest confidants. This closeness with his sibling, Claire, almost certainly comes from the fact that their parents died when the Redfield siblings were young.
This meant that they had to rely on each other as their only other family member, shaping both Redfield siblings into the people they would ultimately become.
Unknown Reason For Leaving The Airforce
Earlier in this list, it was revealed that Chris Redfield was a member of the United States Airforce before he would ultimately BSAA. However, the reasons behind his exit from the United States Airforce has varied over the years.
Some video games say that Redfield was expelled from the Airforce due to insubordination, whereas others say that he left the Airforce in protest at its methods.
Bodyguard Experience
Chris Redfield is one of the most formidable fighters in difficult and dangerous situations (and monsters) that even James Bond would struggle to escape.
However, it would be a lie to suggest that Redfield was a flawless character. During a particularly low ebb in his life and after devolving to alcoholism, Chris Redfield started working as a bodyguard to make ends meet.
Chris And Jill Romance
The Resident Evil movies are far from the most consistent movies in Hollywood. While some die-hard fans of the franchise love every film in the series, some fans of the video game series in particular despite the movie franchise.
Some may be surprised to learn that George A. Romero was initially going to write the script for a Resident Evil movie adaption in the 1990s and this would have seen Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine form a romantic relationship.
Worked As A Trainer
As Chris Redfield is one of the most experienced and skilled fighters in the Resident Evil universe, it comes as no surprise that some would want to use him to train the next generation of BSAA agents.
This was indeed the case, for a length of time Chris Redfield worked as a trainer for BSAA, helping get new BSAA recruits ready for their dangerous missions.
Was Set To Retire
While Chris Redfield doesn’t appear in every Resident Evil video game, it would be impossible to think of a world without Chris Redfield. However, this state of affairs very nearly came to fruition in 2013.
Christ Redfield had plans to retire in 2013, these plans were postponed after Piers’ death. Redfield decided to continue fighting bio-terrorism in Piers’ honor.
