New RE3's Nemesis and RE2's Mr. X chief among them.
Resident Evil Village seems as though it may take things up a notch, though. Not only are there werewolves roaming about, carefully watching their prey, but Lady Dimitrescu and her two daughters appear quite intimidating in their own right. This much is especially evident in the final few moments of the Maiden demo on PlayStation 5, which shows that the mysterious vampire creatures don't believe in playing fair. The latest information about the horror series' eighth mainline entry suggests no part of the titular but unnamed village will feel safe.
The latest issue of Game Informer, Issue 335, features a whole host of new Resident Evil Village details. As relayed by Twitter and industry insider Dusk Golem, the Lycans of RE Village get special attention in the cover story. Apparently, Lycans warrant recognition as the smartest and slyest of Resident Evil enemies yet. They'll lie in wait atop rooftops and hide amongst the foliage, plotting an ambush in the event players fail to take notice of their presence. If they're in packs, Lycans are bound to behave differently than when players face them one-on-one. The Game Informer issue also confirmed that Capcom has designed multiple types of Lycan, one of which features in the below image:
Apart from a few quick glimpses in trailer and screenshots, Capcom hasn't shown off much of the Lycans in action. That could change very soon, though, given that the publisher plans to share new gameplay footage in the April 15 Resident Evil Showcase. Fans can tune into the digital event tomorrow at 3pm PT, the company previously confirmed.
Evidently, Ethan Winters will have to contend with a wide variety of horrors upon venturing into Resident Evil's newest locale. Lady Dimitrescu and werewolves seem to be only one piece of the bigger picture, too. Fortunately, the wait to see what the new chapter entails is nearly at an end.
Resident Evil Village sneaks its way onto PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on May 7.
