The  Resident Evil Village has already captured the attention of Resident Evil fans and the wider video game audience, thanks to the powerful image of its exceptionally tall villain. Though the tall Lady Dimitrescu has dominated Resident Evil Village discourse, she will not be alone in her large, Dracula-esque castle, as she is ed by her three monstrous daughters.

RE Village is a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7, which was largely successful in bringing the legendary series to a first-person perspective. Protagonist Ethan Winters will reprise his role in Village, after being whisked away to a village somewhere in Romania by Resident Evil fan favorite Chris Redfield. Much like the series of mini bosses in RE7, the haunting of Castle Dimitrescu appears to be a family affair.

The three daughters of Castle Dimitrescu have long been a part of the marketing material for Village, but only recently have more details about them come to light. Resident Evil Village art director Tomonori Takano and game director Morimasa Sato provided IGN with new information about the design process for Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters.

Resident Evil Village's Female-Only Castle

Resident Evil Village Lady Dimitrescu and Her Daughters Concept Art

Resident Evil Village will likely be fount of material for feminist critique, since it appears the four primary antagonists are all women who preside over a castle that's extremely dangerous to men who dare enter its halls. Bela, the eldest daughter, Cassandra, the middle child, and Daniela, the youngest, all assist their mother in draining wayward men of their blood, some of which finds its way into Castle Dimitrescu's famous wine. According to Takano, the entire castle is filled with only female enemies, creating a hierarchy atop which sits Lady Dimitrescu.

The most outwardly violent Dimitrescu daughter is Cassandra, according to IGN, as she takes sadistic pleasure in killing her victims. Bela is the smartest and most reserved, while Daniela is highly delusional. Together, they rule over the castle, hanging male corpses drained of their blood by the gates.

Sato said the early stages of deg the Dimitrescu family involved indulging many unusual ideas. One of the initial concepts had the castle filled with 100 "mostly naked" witches, according to IGN. This idea did not translate well into game form and had to be adjusted, resulting in the final forms of Lady Dimitrescu and the three sisters. More Resident Evil Village gameplay is coming April 15 ahead of the game's May 7 launch. No doubt, the Dimitrescus will make another appearance.
