You were sent to an unknown planet in the first game, Journey to the Savage Planet, by your employer. However, in this sequel, you are preparing for revenge on your previous employer, who just laid you off after sending you to a new star system.

With the hopes of returning to Earth, you must survive and explore every inch of the alien environments to gain a better understanding of these vibrant foreign worlds. Between the creatures, caves, plants, and mountains, there is plenty to help you in your revenge scheme. Revenge is at your fingertips and available as a day-one release on Game .

Scan Anything And Everything

Don't Leave A Stone Unturned

Whether you're playing solo or co-op, scanning does more than just help you discover new information about your surroundings. It can also help you unlock more upgrades for your equipment. To scan, you must get into scanning mode by pressing "TAB" on the keyboard. Once in scanning mode, hold down the left mouse button while hovering over what you want to scan.

When the scanning is complete, information about it will pop up on your screen. While in scan mode, you can walk around the area and scan anything you see, but running will cancel the scan mode. Anything you haven't previously scanned will be orange and anything you have already scanned will be blue. This isn't to get confused with the orange outline every object has when you hover over it, whether it's been scanned or not.

Scan absolutely everything around you, from creatures to plants. Don't just search for things to scan at eye level as many items can be up high or down low. Scanning helps you with upgrades and will allow you to find weak points in creatures. This is key to your survival, as many of the creatures can turn on you in an instant. To avoid getting attacked while scanning, keep a safe distance between you and the creatures as you never know when they'll be provoked to attack.

Survey And Scan Frequently

Be Obsessive And Aware

It's understandable if you just want to enjoy your surroundings and not care about having to scan every little thing. However, surveying and scanning are very important in this game if you want to accomplish your revenge goal. Surveying and scanning, while similar, are two different mechanics used in the game.

Shooting clusters of purple alarmingly fragile crystals can help you reach other materials. In the beginning area on the side of a cliff, these crystals will be encasing an orange goo fruit that you can eat to increase your health and stamina.

When you survey something by pressing "Z", anything of interest in your vicinity will be highlighted, such as resources. You can also keep track of the location of missions by surveying and the weak points on creatures will be highlighted if you've already scanned them. Surveying will also show you your current location so you always know where you are. Consider surveying a guide to help you throughout your journey.

Scanning, on the other hand, allows you to learn about the object you choose to scan. This bleeds into surveying as you can scan an animal to understand its weak points, then use surveying to highlight these weak points so you can defeat them quicker. This especially comes in handy when you're up against a difficult enemy. Utilizing both of these mechanics will help you upgrade quicker and survive longer.

Complete The Side Missions

Take Advantage Of Upgrading

Depending on your play style, you may be eager to complete the main story of the game. However, the side missions are crucial in helping you complete many of the main missions. This is also another way to discover new upgrades that will make your survival much easier.

You will want to unlock as many upgrades and abilities as possible to decrease the difficulty. Taking advantage of this being a co-op game would help you complete missions quicker, which means you can upgrade faster. To avoid internet connection issues or the Game ' cloud streaming functionality, you could play split-screen instead.

This is especially true when it comes to defeating and capturing creatures. While it is possible to deal with creatures without any upgrades, it can be extremely difficult. When you press "J", it will open up a menu where you can navigate to the Journal tab to see the missions you need to complete. You can also access this menu through the printer.

Teleport locations are key in navigating around these alien planets. If you traveled everyone on foot, it would take ages to make progress, especially if you have to run through an area you've already discovered multiple times. This also saves you time during missions, so you can upgrade faster in the game.

When you leave an area, enemies and resources will respawn.

Not to mention, if you end up dying, you will need to make your way back to where you died to retrieve any items that were dropped. Similar to other survival games, when you die you lose anything you've gained after your most recent visit to your habitat. If you haven't visited your habitat in a while, and you end up dying, utilize the teleport locations to return to your death mark quickly to gather any dropped items. The dropped items will be assembled in a brown box in the vicinity of where you last died.

Always Return To Your Habitat

Returning To Your Habitat Helps Avoid Frustration

As mentioned, you will drop anything in your inventory once you die, and you must retrieve it at your death spot. To avoid the time and frustration of navigating back to your death mark, visit your habitat frequently. The bright side is you will have to return to your habitat often anyway, since you will need to buy new items for missions. It's best to get in the habit of returning early on so it doesn't feel as tedious as you progress through the game.

Plus, there's always something to do in your habitat. While here you can buy upgrades by turning in minerals, do research on any creatures you've captured, or simply decorate. There's always something to do back at your habitat, plus it helps you avoid having to trek back to your death spot, so it's a win-win in Revenge of the Savage Planet.
