Rick and Morty's most rewatchable episodes.
Alongside providing the name of each episode, Adult Swim's teaser also showed small storyboard sequences of what to expect from each outing, which made me optimistic about the project. Not only will Rick and Morty's relationship avoid going through major changes in season 8, but the entire family appears to be heavily involved, while other fun returns have also been teased. Although these short snippets only provide a very brief idea of the chaos that will ensue next season, the episode titles make it clear as to what kind of direction Rick and Morty is heading down in season 8.
8 Both Versions Of Beth Get A Plot
"The Curicksous Case Of Bethjamin Button" & "Valkyrick" Highlights That Beth & Space Beth Will Have Strong Roles
With Space Beth ing Rick and Morty's original Beth as a central character, both have been given a big spotlight in recent years, which season 8 looks set to continue. The title reveals indicate that the duo will once again have big roles going forward, as "The Curicksous Case of Bethjamin Button" seemed to alternate between each of their perspectives, meaning they will both be heavily involved in the plot. Additionally, the name itself suggests that the two Beths will be the focal point of the episode.
The tease for "Valkyrick" also saw Space Beth shooting her way out of a sticky situation, meaning she should be a central part of that story. Likewise, while the episode seems like it will focus predominantly on Rick and Space Beth, the other version of Beth could also feature in some capacity. While they will likely be recurring characters throughout the entirety of season 8, as their involvement in the "Hot Rick" teaser emphasizes, the early signs point towards the duo each getting a substantial plot.
7 Summer Is In Trouble
"Summer Of All Fears" Suggests Summer Is Experiencing Something Traumatic
Rick and Summer's complicated relationship looks certain to be tested once again in Rick and Morty season 8 through "Summer of All Fears". Although the show mainly centers around the titular characters, Summer has often thrived when given the spotlight, but her gloomy episode title indicates she may be facing trouble. Given season 7's finale was all about Morty overcoming his biggest fear, it seems like season 8 could be about to kick things off in a similar way for his sister.
Regardless of what the plot is, it looks like Summer will have to overcome some serious adversity when the show returns, which sounds like an exciting premise.
There is no guarantee that the order presented in the video is the order episodes will be released, but assuming it is, "Summer of Fear" will put Beth and Jerry's daughter in the danger zone right from the off. The teaser showed both her and Morty hooked up to one of Rick's complex machines, and while they were each in distress, Summer seemed far more terrified than her brother. Regardless of what the plot is, it looks like Summer will have to overcome some serious adversity when the show returns, which sounds like an exciting premise.
6 Something Is Wrong With Jerry
"Nomortland" & "Hotrick" Indicate Jerry's Behavior May Be Different To Normal In Season 8
It wouldn't feel like Rick and Morty without some Jerry shenanigans, and just like the rest of his family, he looks like he'll have a big role in season 8. While he appears to be his usual, upbeat self in "The Last Temptation of Jerry", the teaser for "Nomortland" showed him lazily lounging around in a swimming pool with a beard, the sort of thing we don't usually associate with Jerry. More worryingly, "Hotrick" featured Rick hooking Jerry up to a machine who looked full of concern, suggesting something is up with him in season 8.

Rick & Morty Season 8's New Holiday Special Is The Absolute Last One I Expected The Show To Do
Rick and Morty season 8's first animated promo proves the outing contains at least one holiday special, and I'll bet you can't guess which holiday.
Jerry has had plenty of Rick and Morty episodes revolve around him in the past, many of which see him act a little out of character, but it seems his strange behavior could be a regular occurrence when the show returns. Understandably, the teaser doesn't give away why Jerry is acting weird in "Nomortland" or what his problem is in "Hotrick", but even if they are completely separate incidents, all signs point towards him being a vibrant part of season 8 as he overcomes his issues.
5 Rick Is Unlikely To Be Sidelined Again This Season
Most Episode Teases Featured Him In The Episode Or The Title
Rick and Morty is at its best when both titular characters are involved in the plot, and season 8's episode titles suggest one-half of the duo should be ever-present. The latest teaser confirmed Rick will have a big role in season 8, as he appeared in nearly every episode title itself or its attached video, with the only exception being "The Last Temptation of Jerry". However, Adult Swim's other promo clips for season 8 confirmed Rick will be in Jerry's episode, meaning he won't be sidelined this time around.
Season 7 made the mistake of leaving him out of "Rise of the Numbericons: The Movie", which subsequently became Rick and Morty's lowest-rated episode ever. While the reviews may seem a little harsh, it's a clear sign that fans want both Rick and Morty in among the action, making season 8's early reveals a positive sign. It's still possible that some episodes with Rick's name in the title don't actually feature him in the episode, but given the only ones he hasn't been spotted in are the Beth episodes, he'll likely be involved in every adventure.
4 The Galactic Federation Soldiers Are Back
The Iconic Rick & Morty Villains Featured In The "Valkyrick" Teaser
The Galactic Federation has been part of some iconic Rick and Morty moments, and it seems the soldiers will be back according to "Valkyrick". While it's unclear exactly what the episode will be about, it featured Space Beth gunning down several Galactic Federation soldiers, meaning the recurring villains will get a chance in the spotlight once again. Whether they are nothing but a brief cameo or a major part of the story, it will undoubtedly be great to see these popular characters make another return.
Although the faction was mentioned in season 7, they haven't had a proper role since season 5, and with any luck, they could even be the main antagonists of the episode, which would be a welcome surprise since they have become an almost obsolete enemy of Rick.
3 Memory Rick May Make Another Appearance
"Hot Rick" Suggested Rick May Be Entering Jerry's Mind Which Is Where We Last Saw Memory Rick
Having made his very first appearance in season 5's "Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort", Memory Rick eventually returned through a cameo during the end of "The Jerrick Trap". Often, Rick and Morty's post-credit gags don't lead to much, but Memory Rick attempting to escape Jerry's mind seems like it could receive a follow-up in season 8 based on the early footage. The teaser clip for "Hot Rick" showcased Rick hooking up Jerry to some sort of machine, indicating they could be going inside the latter's head.
Assuming this is the case, Memory Rick could still be plotting his escape, meaning whoever enters Jerry's mind may come across him. This opens up all sorts of possibilities, as he could simply make another short cameo or potentially be given a much more central role. Memory Rick was a valuable ally in season 5 and could be once again in "Hot Rick", but it's also possible he's the one causing the problems inside Jerry's head as a way of trying to escape, potentially setting him up as the episode's antagonist.
2 There Might Be A New Interdimensional Cable
"Ricker Than Fiction" Looks To Be Bringing Back The Popular Episode Format
Throughout its previous seven seasons, Rick and Morty has had numerous popular episode types, but Interdimensional Cable has been by far the most popular. The premise of these episodes is fairly simple on paper, as they usually revolve around the protagonists taking a break from their chaotic adventures to watch TV from different dimensions. Naturally, this develops into a more structured story, but the constantly crazy ads and shows help the Interdimensional Cable episodes really stand out.
Fortunately, the series looks to be returning to this concept for the first time since season 2, with "Ricker than Fiction" featuring Rick and Morty watching some TV and smiling. There have been all kinds of theories regarding Rick and Morty season 8 and what sort of wacky ideas it could pull off next, but returning to the Interdimensional Cable concept is a genuine shock given how long it has been since the last one, and I can't wait for this interesting episode format to return.
1 Rick and Morty Are Back To Episodic Adventures
There Are No Immediate Signs Of Canonical Episodes In Season 8
Perhaps the biggest reveal from Rick and Morty season 8's episode titles is the fact that the duo looks to be back to episodic adventures. As the years went by, the animated series became more obsessed with canonical episodes, bringing in characters like Rick Prime and Evil Morty to provide a more overarching narrative. These stories have usually worked a treat, with "The Rickshank Redemption" and "The Ricklantis Mixup" being among Rick and Morty's best-ever episodes, proving their value to the franchise.
However, season 7 put an end to the Rick Prime arc, and while Evil Morty is still around to cause mischief, it seems like season 8 is putting these episodes on the backburner to focus on more classic adventures. Allowing the protagonists to discover new dimensions and meet fresh characters should keep the show interesting, and with no obvious signs of any overarching episodes in sight, I'm optimistic that Rick and Morty season 8 will meet expectations and set up a bright future.
