Warning! Spoilers for the 2024 remake of Road House.
Summary
- Road House 2024 had engaging cameos like Post Malone, who was featured at the beginning of the film.
- Post Malone's character Carter Ford assisted in setting up Dalton's reputation without giving too much away.
- Post Malone also contributed the song "Horsepower" to the soundtrack, further hinting at Dalton's characterization.
The 2024 remake of Road House had several engaging cameos, including the appearance of rapper Post Malone. Road House is based on the 1989 movie of the same name, which follows a bouncer who is hired to help manage the patrons of a notoriously rowdy bar. Though both films focus on the many hurdles the protagonist has to face, the 2024 remake makes a few changes to what those problems are, as well as the protagonist's backstory.
Elwood Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal), a former UFC fighter, uses his fighting skills to fend off gang and police alike as he takes over security at the dilapidated bar. This comes to a head as Ben Bradt (Billy Magnussen), a local mob boss, attempts to take him down for interfering with his gentrification plans. This contrasts with the original 1989 version, as James Dalton (Patrick Swayze) was a professional bouncer and the film was set in Missouri over Florida, though both characters have to grapple with the guilt of an accidental death and gang interference.

Road House Remake Missed The Perfect Moment To Recreate The 45-Year-Old Original's Most Ridiculous Fight Scene
Sadly, the 2024 remake of the 1989 film Road House did not feature a reference to the original movie's most famous (and brutal) fight scene.
Post Malone Plays Carter In 2024's Road House
Credited as Austin Post, Post Malone appeared at the beginning of Road House as Carter Ford. Carter, who opens the film with a successful fight in an underground ring, is faced with Gyllenhaal's Dalton, who calmly enters and begins to prepare to accept Carter's earlier challenge. Visibly frightened, Carter refuses to fight, to the disappointment of the crowd. This not only adds another cameo to the rapper's growing list but also seamlessly sets up Dalton's prowess and violent reputation without overexplaining it to audiences. This also builds audience anticipation for the fight scenes to come as Road House continues.
Post Malone's New Song "Horsepower" Is In Road House's Soundtrack
Alongside appearing in the film, Post Malone also contributed to Road House's soundtrack. His song "Horsepower" plays at the beginning of the film, highlighting his appearance and emphasizing Dalton's characterization as formidable and in control, the latter aspect shifting as the film progresses. The song also plays at the end of the movie, showcasing how Dalton's character remains the same at his core despite the events of the film, his need for atonement still present as he continues to cope with his past traumas.
Though several videos have appeared on YouTube, "Horsepower" is still not officially available for streaming as of the writing of this article. The 2024 remake of Road House honors the original while adding a few new details, keeping the story alive for new audiences as it updates both the action and the main themes the original touched on. Through the less optimistic tone, the film is able to emphasize how healing is not a straight line and how bloody that path can be for some.
