Disney's version of the classic There are some fantastic personalities within the Disney version of the movie, all of which come together to make a great story.
This movie is a really classic case of good vs. evil, which was done perfectly, and that is done because of the clear characteristics that all of the characters have. There are many obvious heroes who are easy to love, and plenty of villains who can be hated, which really brings this movie together perfectly.
Prince John
Prince John is the main villain within this movie, therefore it is no surprise that he is the least likable character, and it is actually a sign of great work by Disney that he's so easy to hate. John is cowardly and simply surrounds himself with people who will do everything for him, while he taxes the poor as much as possible to earn all of his money.
Prince John doesn't care about anybody other than himself (and his mommy), and he is a major crybaby that proves himself to be very irritating throughout the movie. While it's all done intentionally, it does make him the least likable character.
Sheriff Of Nottingham
The Sheriff Of Nottingham is one of the previously mentioned characters that Prince John surrounds himself with. He's the man who has to actually head out to the people and take the money from them, which does put him in a tough spot, but it's one that he seemingly relishes being in.
Because of that, he's very easy to dislike. While he's only following orders, because he takes so much pleasure out of the situation and loves to torment the people of Nottingham, he really does become a horrible villain throughout the movie.
Sir Hiss
It's the company that he keeps which holds back Sir Hiss because he is actually the funniest character within this movie. He might be Prince John's sidekick, but he is very witty and sassy, having no problem in giving his honest opinions to his master.
Sir Hiss isn't anywhere near as cowardly as Prince John but he still has no interest in actually doing things for good, which is why he's ultimately not that likable. However, out of all the villains in this movie, he is certainly the best, purely for his witty comebacks.
Skippy
It's impossible not to love Skippy! He's one of the cutest characters within the movie, as the young rabbit who is inspired by Robin Hood, hoping to one day become him as he tries to act like a hero throughout the movie, which certainly makes him very likable.
He is often shown hanging around his sister, and his very shy friend, Toby Turtle. But it is Skippy who really stands out the most throughout the movie as he shows tons of heart and plenty of bravery on a consistent basis.
Alan-A-Dale
Alan-A-Dale is one of the most recognizable characters from Robin Hood, working as the narrator for this particular movie. However, he doesn't just provide some background for what is happening within the movie, but he's also part of it as well as a member of Nottingham.
He's a true musical talent and that brings some of the most memorable moments from this movie to the table. His songs just shake things up a little during the story, and he is shown to be an intelligent character which audiences certainly enjoy.
Friar Tuck
Friar Tuck really does feel like the 'voice of the people' throughout Robin Hood, always sticking up for others as he tries his best to help everyone. While he isn't able to have as much impact as Robin himself, Friar Tuck is someone who puts everybody above himself, and that selfless attitude makes him very likable.
He's normally very calm and placid in this movie, but when he snaps and starts to fight back against the villains, it is one of the best moments as it's something so unexpected. He's a truly unsung hero from Disney's library of characters and is easily one of the most likable in this story.
Lady Marian
Lady Marian is the lead female character in this movie and is the sweetheart of Robin Hood, who she thinks very fondly of. While Marian is very much in love, she is also very capable of standing up for herself and that makes her a strong character overall.
She and Robin are perfect together, but Marian's character doesn't rely upon that relationship. She has a fun friendship with Lady Kluck, which breaks things up nicely throughout the movie, and the way she is able to really express herself makes her a character that everyone can invest in.
Lady Kluck
While Maid Marian might be the bigger name, having a more important role, it is Lady Kluck who comes away as the more likable character. This is simply because she has a much bigger personality, bringing tons of energy with her boisterous nature which adds a lot to the movie.
She's very kind to everyone she encounters and is always happy to add jokes to a situation, which always lightens the mood. Plus, Lady Kluck has no problem getting stuck in with the action either, really helping out at times.
Little John
Little John is the perfect sidekick character to Robin Hood. He follows his friend into all of his crazy schemes, no matter the danger, and that showcases great loyalty which is a very likable trait. He's also a calming presence to Robin at times as well, as Little John often questions the schemes and comes at them from a more realistic and logical manner, which is helpful.
Without Little John, Robin would be nothing, which showcases his importance to him. Plus, Little John is a very funny character, bringing a lot of humor to the movie with his light-hearted personality.
Robin Hood
While all of the other characters are crucial in coming together in order to make this movie as special as it is, ultimately, Robin Hood himself has to be great. Thankfully, in Disney's version, that is very much the case as he is one of Disney's best-ever heroes.
Robin has everything that you would want from this character. He's full of heart, doing his best to help as many people out despite their circumstances while remaining slightly cheeky and romantic at the same time. He's a loyal friend and he's also incredibly intelligent with the way he comes up with his plans, making him the ideal lead character.
