Although she has sampled powers from many of Marvel’s most powerful in the past, one version of X-Men’s 's power. The reality-hopping Weapon X team exists as a covert version of the Exiles, unafraid to get their hands dirty to complete their given mission. But when one of their defies their orders and conquers a parallel world instead, a moment of impending extinction has Anna Marie absorb a portion of Hyperion’s power to help him stop it. While she previously revels in that nearly unlimited power, it is not enough to both save her and her world from total annihilation.
In Exiles #38-39, Weapon X travel to a world where the U.S. government has used the Sentinel program to wipe out most of the X-Men and Avengers, appearing in the remains of the famous X-Men headquarters in Westchester, NY. While some Weapon X mourn the recent loss of a teammate, the others are preoccupied with her replacement, a version of Squadron Supreme’s Hyperion. This homage to DC’s Superman suggests that they ignore their mission to ensure all remaining mutants are eradicated. Hyperion is eventually ed by other Weapon X as he destroys the Sentinels, takes over the U.S. government, and takes on this world’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
In Exiles #40 by writer Chuck Austen and artist Jim Calafiore, Hyperion deals with the fallout from killing Magneto, specifically that his doomsday plan to release an oversized meteor that’d wipe out all life on Earth remains in motion. After reconvening with the remainder of Weapon X, the Brotherhood, and other interested parties, they create a plan that requires their Rogue to touch and absorb Hyperion’s powers. This version of Anna Marie Raven cackles as she feels his power, and soon they’re both seen hovering in space, using their heat vision in hopes of slowing down or completely destroying the impending meteor.
Rogue’s mutant power has been the absorption of someone’s memories or powers upon physical which took her many painful years of trial and error to control. While her time in the mainstream Brotherhood came to an end shortly after absorbing Carol Danvers aka Ms. Marvel’s power and memories, this version of Rogue appeared to not have encountered such crossroads. Changing alliances after not agreeing to destroy the planet with Magneto, Rogue didn’t see the point in ruling a world full of ruins and corpses. She acts more malevolent than benign when absorbing Hyperion’s power which is similar to DC’s Superman, making her a god temporarily. The plan hinged on two Hyperions’ using their combined might to stop the meteor and save the planet which could have worked if not for an unexpected twist near the end.
As Hyperion and Rogue exhausted their energy together, Rogue’s powers began to fade, and she insisted that Hyperion touch her again. Unfortunately, those words fell on deaf ears as the spiteful Superman had decided that this world was beyond saving and left to return to Asteroid M to help Weapon X complete their mission. The powerless Rogue’s last words would be begging Hyperion not to leave as she died, her body burnt to a crisp in the meteor’s tragic trajectory towards Earth. Although this version of Rogue was essentially a temporary Supergirl, her mistake was trusting an evil Superman to be a man of his word, especially when it no longer served his best interests.
