Ron's Gone Wrong serves as a commentary on consumerism and technology, exploring the light and dark sides of tech's influence on young people's lives. Barney is a middle school student that can't afford the latest gadget, a B-Bot, but he is able to obtain a defective bot named Ron, who turns his life upside down.

The characters in Ron's Gone Wrong are full of life and fun to watch, and most have personalities that are written around real-world lessons for younger audiences to learn, like Savannah's addiction to fame and Rich's need to be a bully. The unique designs of the characters are also interesting, bringing a colorful and fun-filled world to the film. But who are the most likable of them all?

Andrew Morris

A great animated villain, Andrew becomes the CEO of the tech giant Bubble who is able to control the B-Bots, spy on the townspeople, and harvest and sell their data. There are many parallels between Andrew and tech CEOs in the real world, but Andrew takes things to a near-homicidal degree when he leaves Barney and Ron to die in the woods.

Andrew is extremely selfish and greedy. He is able to command a room and find solutions to problems easily, but these abilities and his intellect are used for evil rather than good. This makes him a great villain to root against, and the audience can clearly understand his methods and motivations.

Rich Belcher

Barney's friends ditch him after a disastrous party where he almost set them on fire, but most of them simply ignore Barney for the duration of the school day. However, Rich is a full-on bully, targeting Barney for views on his YouTube prank channel. Obsessed with views and the epitome of a class clown, Rich bullies Barney until Ron steps in to defend his human friend.

Rich is redeemed towards the end of the film, realizing what a terror he has been to Barney and resolving to be a better person. However, Rich never really apologizes for what he did to Savannah, ruining her YouTube career, making her the laughing stock of the school, and potentially losing her money in sponsorships.

Savannah Meades

Savannah is typical of the YouTube and TikTok stars that are popular and prolific in social media today. Savannah livestreams her wake-up routine, her walk to school, various events at lunch, and anything remotely interesting. She filters out anything undesirable or 'not trending' and her first priority when the B-Bots get unlocked is to stream the event.

Although this may make Savannah seem shallow, her actions and dialogue are indicative of our image-driven world and a need for the validation that comes from being internet famous. Savannah is likable because she is relatable for many young people, and especially because she learns her lesson that fame isn't everything.

Marc

Marc, the creator of the B-Bots, broke new technological ground by making robots that can literally do anything. However, instead of making them into weapons or hiring them out to the government, Marc wants to create friends for his customers, allowing them to feel a connection to the technology. However, the algorithm he creates is too limited, and Marc needs to meet Ron to understand true friendship.

Marc is kind and totally unlike the villainous Andrew. Although both are interested in the tech and its possibilities, Marc wants to use those possibilities to create friends for everyone, whereas Andrew wants to harvest and sell data.

Barney Pudowski

Barney has a lot in common with other protagonists in films targeted at a younger audience: he is socially awkward, he doesn't fit in, he is jealous of his classmates for having something he hasn't got (a B-Bot), and throughout the film, he learns to appreciate his family and what he has. Barney is also selfish and can be self-absorbed, indicating to Ron that to be friends, Ron has to like everything Barney likes and know everything about him.

Barney's selfish decisions often lead him and Ron into danger. Barney has a tendency to not think things through, which drives the plot along but can become kind of annoying.

Graham Pudowski

Barney's father Graham is a nerdy gadget salesman that would do absolutely anything for his son. He works hard to afford nice things for Barney and puts thought into Barney's birthday present, ing his son's interests and buying a rock collecting kit to help him in his hobbies. Best of all, Graham tries desperately to get a B-Bot, knowing how much Barney wants one, and does his best to obtain Ron.

Graham is a kind character as well as a funny one, often seen trying to sell his ridiculous gadgets, like a toy unicorn that poops out slime. He s Barney and Donka as best he can, and although some younger of the audience might not understand how much he loves his family, the adults in the audience will certainly be able to relate to Graham's struggle to make his family happy.

Donka Pudowski

Donka is one of the most loving grandmas in media, she's willing to give up everything to make Barney happy. She gives up her funeral money to be able to buy Ron, stands up for Barney when people try to hurt him, and spent her entire day cooking food for Barney's birthday party even though nobody showed up.

Voiced by Olivia Colman, Donka is hilarious in her own way, having immigrated from Bulgaria to America and bringing her customs and quirks along with her. Donka keeps chickens, teaches Ron to dance, and tries hard to keep her family together, as well as being a no-nonsense woman with a heart of gold.

Ron

Sure to become one of the strangest movie robots of all time, Ron is a defective B-Bot that was accidentally dropped out of a delivery van. Barney's dad buys Ron at a discount, not realizing his defects, but Barney grows to love Ron because of his quirky, fun nature. With his adorable little face, obsession with a silver sticker, and his overly protective nature, it is hard not to love Ron.

Ron is so much fun and genuinely seems to care about Barney, learning as much as he can about real friendship instead of ing an algorithm. Ron's quirky and often violent personality leads to some hilarious scenes such as dancing with Barney's grandmother and beating up Rich when he tries to bully Barney.
